Our environment
Kosciuszko Thredbo Pty Ltd (KT) operates in one of Australia’s most beautiful and sensitive natural settings. Thredbo’s environment has international conservation significance and is valued by all Australians. Within this landscape, Thredbo Village has evolved to become a vibrant and diverse community. The village atmosphere and facilities attract year-round visitation and provide the social infrastructure that underpins all of our activities.

Our goals
Thredbo’s natural and social resources have helped place KT at the forefront of Australian alpine resorts, however, this privilege carries a responsibility to manage Thredbo wisely. KT is committed to achieving and maintaining a leading position in sustainable alpine resort management. Under our stewardship, the natural and social values of the Thredbo will be conserved or improved for the use and enjoyment of future generations. Among other things, this will mean avoiding and minimising pollution, waste and environmental impacts.

Our strategy
KT are committed to meeting all of our legal and other responsibilities. We will use a comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS) to coordinate and evaluate each of our key areas of business activity. The EMS will:

• be based on a thorough understanding of the social and environmental impacts our activities;
• define our legal and other responsibilities;
• complement the interests, objectives and activities of relevant stakeholders;
• contain clear objectives and targets for measuring and quantifying our environmental performance;
• establish a system to monitor, analyse and publicise our environmental performance;
• define an effective operational structure for implementing the EMS, detailing responsibilities, communications pathways, timeframes and training;
• be endorsed, understood and implemented at all levels within KT.

Measuring our performance
Our environmental and social performance and this Policy will be reviewed annually against the objectives and targets specified in the EMS. We have embraced a philosophy of continual improvement to achieve and maintain our performance targets. We will use accreditation under the international Green Globe program to achieve and demonstrate sustainable management, initially for the Administration offices and the Alpine Hotel, and eventually for all of our operations.

Working together
KT acknowledges that we do not operate in isolation. Our Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy and annual EMS reviews will be made publicly available to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable management. We will actively encourage resort visitors, customers, goods and services suppliers, village retailers and sub-lessees to develop and implement complementary environmental policies.
