Climate
Thredbo is close to a two kilometres above sea level, so it rarely gets too hot. The highest ever recorded temp in the village was 30oC but the average daily summer temperature is between 14oC and 21oC. Come February, when the rest of Australia is scorching, Thredbo is generally temperate. Once the season moves to autumn the nights do get chilly but the days are still mild.
If you are a weather watcher you can monitor the conditions here. The latest weather is fed live from the weather station at the top of the resort and the on mountain cameras capture snapshots every 15 minutes.
Thredbo environment - Green Globe
Thredbo understands the unique nature of the environment around us, so in conjunction with residents, guests and local businesses we are pitching in to assist the sustainable commercial and ecological future of the world. Thredbo has begun the process of benchmarking Thredbo’s energy and water consumption, waste production and disposal. Work is well underway in introducing an Environmental Management System, through the internationally recognised organisation for sustainable travel and tourism known as Green Globe. The team at Thredbo actively engage in resource conservation, renewable energy use, recycling, composting, and other forms of waste reduction, wildlife habitat preservation and environmental education. We can all do our bit for a better world.
