Thredbo mountain
Thredbo has terrain to suit all standards of skiers and boarders. Ranging from gentle first timer runs on a purpose built beginners area, to long wide Supertrails, intermediate blue runs and some of the most advanced black diamond terrain in the country.

Beginners
It’s your first time on the snow and excitement is at fever pitch. First stop - Friday Flat, Thredbo’s specially designed area for beginners. The slope is gentle, the lifts are easy to use and the lift attendants are specially trained in nurturing new skiers and boarders. The Thredbo Snow Sports School also meet here, so you can easily join in on a first timer lesson. At least one, if not more, lessons are highly recommended for beginners to find their snow legs.  Run names: Friday Flat, Basin Run, Village Trail.

Intermediates
Around 67% of Thredbo’s slopes are devoted to intermediates skiers and boarders.  Intermediates love Thredbo and the majority of people who hit the slopes are at this level. Once you have the feel for sliding, turning and stopping, it’s time to head to the Cruiser area, Thredbo’s blue and green run haven. There are plenty of long, wide and tree-lined trails and they are accessed by a super quick and easy to use chairlift. It is a great feeling when the runs you timidly tried at the start are being cruised with confidence. Next step… the rest of the mountain. Run names: Cruiser Area’s – Playground, Squatters Run, Ballroom, Valley View. Others inc: High Noon, Supertrail, Basin, Karels. Upper intermediates: Antons, Sponars, Saschas Schuss.

All mountain riders
Experienced riders rate Thredbo’s terrain as the best in the country. Thredbo has everything an advanced rider is looking for - long runs with a great fall line, natural hits, wind lips, powder bowls, smooth on-piste (groomed trails) and hectares of off piste trails to explore. Run names: The Bluff, Cannonball, Little Beauty, Funnel Web, Bushranger, The Bowl.

Freestyling and riding
Thredbo’s terrain parks are all about progression so everyone can have a go. There’s a park for kids, beginners, intermediates and advanced riders plus a ridercross course to test your skills.

Whether you are on two boards or one there’s features galore for you to spin, jib, slide or glide on. The full time terrain park crew keep the parks fresh by constantly creating new combinations with the boxes, rails, jumps and other original features. So whether you are a rookie rider or a well rounded pro you will find your feet in Thredbo’s mix of terrain parks.

Wombat world - kids
On Friday Flat this park area is designed to introduce kids to freestyle with small introductory size features like rollers, berms, small jumps and cool tunnels.

Cruiser Park - beginners
This park is located in the intermediate Cruiser area and is the place riders getting into freestyle from complete beginners to lower intermediate. Features dance floor boxes, small down box, flat boxes, small pole jam along with an array of hips, jumps and table tops to keep you progressing smoothly.

High Noon Park - intermediate
On Friday Flat this park area is designed to introduce kids to freestyle with small introductory size features like rollers, berms, small jumps and cool tunnels.

Advanced pop up park
The advanced park will pop up as the snow conditions allow, in any area of the resort.  One day you could be sliding a log ride in the Bluff, busting it big off a massive kicker in Central Spur or grinding a challenging rail set up at Karels.  You can expect to see butter pads, spines, a huge range of rails that has the metal to challenge most pros plus a line of jumps ranging from 35 to 60ft. This park has features that are at the peak of freestyle progression, usually they are the most challenging and creative hits on the hill, it’s where the biggest and best ideas the park crew become a reality for everyone to enjoy.

Twilight riding
It’s FREE. Twilight riding happens every Thursday and Saturday evening through July and August from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on the gentle Friday Flat.

Snowmaking
Snowmaking really has Thredbo covered from top to bottom and side to side, from the heights of the Cruiser to the steeps of True Blue and Little Beauty and down to Friday Flat. Thredbo boasts the largest snowmaking system in the Southern Hemisphere, covering over 75 hectares.

Snowmaking combines water, air and cold temps to produce the snowflakes and
•    it provides snow early in the season to get skiing and snowboarding started
•    it improves and maintains the quality of the slopes
•    it supplements natural snow in locations that are prone to wear and tear, adding length to the season
•    it improves guest comfort so whenever possible you can ride on a nice fresh cover

Quick facts:
•    300 automated guns
•    225 firing at any one time
•    over 75 hectares covered
•    600,000m3 of snow produced in 2010
•    energy efficient with worlds best practise in snowmaking
•    32 kilometres of underground piping.

So better quality, greater coverage and more areas covered. Combine this with a state of the art grooming fleet to smooth the trails (including winch cats to smooth the steep), you know you will always have the best possible snow riding conditions.

For non skiing/boarding children
Thredbo Child Care Centre, located at the Thredbo Leisure Centre, operates daily during winter, for children aged 6 months to 6 years.  Bookings are essential call (02)6459 4294 in winter, other times call 1300 020 589.
