Thredbo Snow Sports is looking to recruit people to fill positions a variety of positions for the 2012 winter season. Successful applicants should possess the following attributes:

Brief description of vacant positions

 

Admin positions

1.       Private lesson sales assistant – working with our dynamic private lessons sales team, the successful applicant will possess a pleasant phone manner and sound computer skills. Some previous exposure to cash handling or experience in a snowsports lessons booking office will be an advantage.

 

Children's programs

2.       3-6 Program assistant – Applicants for this position will have the opportunity to work with young children, by assisting with daily general duties that aid the running of our 3-6 year old ski programs. The successful applicant should have an aptitude for working with children between the age of 3 and 6 years age, with previous experience in the childcare field an advantage, but not essential. This position works on a 5-day weekly roster commencing late June through until mid September.

3.       7-14 Program assistant – Applicants for this position will have the opportunity to work with children, by assisting with daily general duties that aid the running of our 7-14 year old Ski/Snowboard programs. The successful applicant should have an aptitude for working with children and teenagers, with previous experience in outdoor adventure activities an advantage, but not essential. This position works on a 5-day weekly roster commencing late June until mid September.

4.       Thredboland receptionist – Applicants for this position should be proficient in operating all programs in the Microsoft Office suite and have some experience working with children. The successful applicant will need to prepare in a timely manner, the daily reports used to aid the smooth running of Thredbo Snow Sports Children's programs.  Additional tasks include registering participants into the program at the commencement of each day and being available to answer general questions about the program.

5.       Kitchen Supervisor – The successful applicant will be required to oversee and assist the preparation of daily food requirements to all participants in the Thredbo Snow Sports Children's Programs. Additional tasks include ordering and maintaining an inventory of food inline with patronage levels and adjusting staff rosters according to business requirements. 

6.       Thredboland Ski Instructor – Having an aptitude for working with children aged between 3 to 6 years of age, the successful applicant will be required to conduct ski lessons to allocated students in a safe, fun environment. Previous skiing experience will be an advantage, but is not essential. A training program is offered to all successful applicants prior to the commencement of employment.

 

Instructing positions

Regardless of skiing or riding experience, Thredbo Snow Sports highly qualified trainers can give you all the skills needed to impart a memorable riding experience with our resort guests. What could be more rewarding than taking a novice rider and showing them the wonderful sights that await them at the top of the mountain, then helping them safely navigate their way to the bottom of the mountain?

There are five different avenues available to undertake an instructing position within Thredbo Snow Sports for the 2012 winter. They are:

  1. Full-time Ski Instructing positions with limited or no teaching experience. This is a recruitment program for applicants with no ski instructing qualifications, or non-ISIA standard qualifications. Applicants will be selected for this training course through an interview process on the day prior to the start of the course (14th June). Successful graduates of this program should be available until mid September and will be scheduled to work 6 days per week during this period. The on-snow interview is 14th June in Thredbo and, if selected, the training course commences 15th June 2012 and runs for 4 days. Applications for these positions will close 4th May 2012.
  2. Full-time Snowboard Instructing positions with limited or no teaching experience. This is a recruitment program for applicants with no snowboard instructing qualifications, or non-ISIA standard qualifications. Applicants will be selected for this training course through an interview process on the day prior to the start of the course (14 June). Successful graduates of this program should be available until mid September and will be scheduled to work 6 days per week during this period. The on-snow interview is 14th June in Thredbo and, if selected, the training course commences 15th June 2012 and runs for 4 days. Applications for these positions will close 4th May 2012.
  3. Full-time Ski Instructing position for ISIA qualified international staff. This program is available to international applicants with a qualification that attracts an ISIA stamp with a minimum of three years fulltime ski instructing/race coaching experience. If you do not have this certification and experience, please avoid disappointment by applying for position 7. Applicants will be required to work 6 days per week through until mid September. All participants will need to be in Thredbo ready to start their induction clinic on 20th June 2012. Applications for these positions will close 4th May 2012.
  4. Full-time Snowboard Instructing positions for experienced instructors. This program will offer a very limited number of positions to Snowboard Instructors with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and an ISIA Snowboard qualification as a minimum. If you do not have this certification and experience, please avoid disappointment by applying for position 8. Applicants will be required to work 6 days per week through until mid September.
  5. Casual Ski Instructing position for school holidays – available to applicants who can commit to working for the duration of the NSW school holiday period (25th June –15th July). Any level of qualification is acceptable for this clinic and positions will be allocated based on seasonal demand.  Applications for these positions will open 28th April 2012, closing on the 1st June. An on snow interview will be conducted on the 22nd June in Thredbo, with applicants being offered positions in a 2 day training program commencing 23rd June.
