Mountain biking

The alpine region offers biking trails for both easy riders and downhill dynamos

Where better to pedal about on a mountain bike than in the Snowy Mountains. You can hire everything you need in Thredbo or bring your own equipment. There is easy trail and village riding for all to enjoy or for those that get their thrill from an adrenalin rush, try taking the Kosciuszko Express to the top and riding the Thredbo Downhill trail. All riders using the chairlift must be on a guided or patrolled Downhill Unlimited Session with South East Mountain Bike Co and must have completed an initiation session.

Thredbo Downhill Initiation Must be completed once for future chairlift access
This includes a full day downhilling at Thredbo with 3 hours of instruction from an experienced instructor. You'll learn about using the chairlift, trail access and technical riding skills for riding down a big mountain safely. The package includes front suspension bike, full body armour, full-face helmet and all day lift ticket.

 

Grade: Reasonable experience required

Time: 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.00pm

General: Bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen, waterbottle and layered clothing. There is full guided instruction for the first three hours then free riding for the afternoon. Bike patrols circulate all day with spare parts and advice.

Downhill Unlimited Session
This awesome package gives you unlimited rides up the Kosciuszko Express chairlift during the 2 session times, making use of Thredbo's steep, thrilling downhill tracks. Bike patrol is present during sessions on a roving basis, providing expert assistance & technical tips where necessary.

 

Grade: Experience required, must have completed Downhill Initiation
Length: 4-6 kms downhill
Cost: $69.00pp for first day (with own bike & equipment). Consecutive days at reduced rates
Inclusions: Day ticket or consecutive day ticket
Time: 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.00pm
Season: November 21 2009 - May 2010 (track conditions permitting)
General: Does not include bike hire or body armour hire. Hire bikes and equipment are available along with group clinic or private lesson packages. Full-face helmets are compulsory and body armour is highly recommended.

Custom Tours/Mountain Biking

SE MTB Co will customise a tour for groups of almost any size. These could be cross country tours, downhill clinics, picnics, corporate team building excercises, school groups etc.

Guided Tours

Choose from a variety of great guided rides with SE MTB Co this summer. We cater for all ability levels. Pro rider clinics, private lessons, group clinics and women's weekends are also available. Please note bookings are essential for these rides.

Hire a Bike

Hire a bike and go for an easy ride around the valley floor and the village. SE MTB Co hires cross country bikes, village bikes, downhill bikes, tandems, kiddie carriers, child seats, tricycles and BMX for all sizes.
