Thredbo makes the perfect classroom for school children in summer or winter

Are you ready to hammer the hill and pick up new skills? Thredbo is just awesome in winter with endless options for all your snow riding escapades.

With the Thredbo Schools package, you can be part of the action. The fun and friendly gang from Thredbo Snow Sports School will have students and teachers learning, turning and having a ball on the snow.

There is heaps of terrain to suit whatever your standard. Beginners can take their first time slides down the gentle slope of Friday Flat, with the Snow Runner conveyor to make the learning experience a breeze. Intermediate cruisers can turn it up at Merritts with plenty of wide, tree-lined trails to explore, and the black diamond destroyers will be in heaven with wicked steeps and challenging off-piste terrain to carve into.

When the legs say "no more" there’s the rest of Thredbo to explore, with plenty of cutting edge shops, cafes and restaurants to sink your teeth into, as well as the Thredbo Leisure Centre with a 50m indoor pool featuring ‘Mission Inflatable’, squash court, sports hall and waterslide. Daily access is included in the schools student snow special.

There are special rates for groups of 20 or more - download the booking form below for more details.

Higher Learning – chill out in this classroom!
Thredbo transforms into a whole new world during summer with endless adventures to share and mountains of discoveries to be made. School groups can take in the amazing alpine ecosystem on a trip to Australia's highest peak, Mt Kosciuszko with stunning mountain views to reward your efforts. You will also learn about resort operations and the fascinating history of the region.

Historians, mountain guides and local business people will be on hand to give insight to the secrets of the snowies while worksheets that accompany each specific education unit are handed to teachers for discussions and fun when you hit the classroom.

Years 5-6 students learn of the formation of the Australian Alps and the human impact on the area, within the science/geography unit.

Years 8-10 students study a science/geography unit on the fragile Alpine ecosystem or a history unit that explores Aboriginal history in the mountains, the early settlers and Thredbo Village.

Years 11-12 students have 3 choices: geography/biology covering alpine ecology, geography/business with a case study of Kosciuszko Thredbo Pty Ltd within the Australian tourism industry and an outdoor education unit looking at high altitude training and it's physiological effects.

The units are combined with packages including rides on the chairlift, as well as use of the Thredbo Leisure Centre pool and waterslide.

Risk Analysis & Management System (RAMS) for schools
With increasing emphasis being placed on Risk Management, and with regard to recent guidelines that have been released by the Department of Education and Training (DET) in relation to school groups, Kosciuszko Thredbo Pty Ltd (KT) has developed this RAMS (Risk Analysis & Management System) Tool to assist schools in completing their own risk assessments.
