1. DO YOUR RESEARCH
Research - When it comes to getting ready for your first snow holiday, do your research. You can learn about resort facilities and activities through this website. You can find information on private and group beginner lessons, lift passes, accommodation and parking. The site also features a resort map so you can familiarise yourself with the mountain and the grading of their mountain trails before you arrive.
Interact - Another great way to keep up-to-date with Thredbo weather conditions is via the live webcams, video and written snow reports on this website and through Twitter. You can also "talk" to other snow lovers by becoming a fan of the Thredbo Facebook page. On your way to the snow, tune into local radio stations Snow FM 97.7 is the local frequency once you hit Cooma, they have current snow reports and traffic conditions. 2. BE PREPAREDWhen it comes to your jacket, you want to be comfortable. If it is too short your back will be exposed and become cold. Jackets with powder skirts (an elastic band on the inner layer) are great for beginners.
Items you won't be able to hire for hygiene reasons include goggles, a helmet and thermals. When buying these, the right fit is also necessary. Goggles that are too large can fog up while a helmet that is too loose will not protect you correctly if you fall. Thermal pants and tops should be worn close to the skin.
Boots - Your boots, whether for skiing or snowboarding, are your most important investment. Have them fitted by an expert boot fitter to avoid them being too loose or too tight. If they don't fit properly they will not support your ankles and can lead to injury, while on a lesser scale they can cause blisters and make for an uncomfortable day on the slopesLayer up - It is always best to wear layers so you can remove small items of clothing if you become too warm – you can hire a locker at Friday Flat or Valley Terminal if you need to take any off but if you don't have enough clothes on and become cold it will ruin your day.
4. MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR DAY
