Car parking
Thredbo has over 2,500 car park spaces available with both day and overnight parking.
Many lodges, apartments and chalets have on-site parking so check when booking with the Thredbo Resort Centre.
Thredbo's location within the valley and its cosy size means everything is within a 10 minute walk. So once in the village there is no need to turn the key (only to the chalet of course). During winter a free shuttle bus service operates around the village to make getting around a simple process. There are various stops between Friday Flat and the village and the accommodation precinct. Whether you’re gearing up for a day on the slopes or heading out for a tasty treat we have you covered. In the evening in July and August, the shuttle service operates until 9pm Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights.
Overnight car parking in Thredbo is located on the southern side of Friday Drive, adjacent to the Thredbo Leisure Centre and also at Friday Flat. The car parks are signposted as "P Overnight". In all there are four overnight car park serviced by the shuttle bus on Friday and Saturday nights. At other times, guests should make their way to the nearest regular bus stop located on Friday Drive.
Day car parking is located at Friday Flat. 5 minute "drop off" zones exist on the eastern side of the Friday Flat roundabout and adjacent to the Information Centre bus stop in the village. Guests are reminded that day parking is between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm to allow snow clearing operations to be carried out overnight.
On site car parking is available at most accommodation in Thredbo. Please check availability when booking. Vehicles should be parked in designated car spaces only and should not protrude onto adjacent roadways, as there is the potential to interfere with snow clearing and courtesy bus operations.
Parking Infringements - The Department of Environment and Conservation Parks and Wildlife Division vehicle compliance officers are responsible for the enforcement of parking regulations within Thredbo in both summer and winter. The NSW Roads and Traffic Authority is responsible for the management of the Alpine Way. Any vehicle found parked illegally in a designated parking zone may be liable to a $152 fine that is processed by the NSW Police Service. This means that non-payment of fines may result in further prosecution such as loss of licence demerit points for the vehicle’s owner. The current fine of $152 is applicable to a whole range of parking fines, including vehicles that are illegally parked in designated car parks belonging to others, or for not having the appropriate park use fee displayed.
