Swinging in the Snowy Mountains

Posted on 22 Apr, 2016 in Festivals & Events

The Thredbo Jazz Festival returns for it’s 29th year with a solid line up of jazz artists to light up the village over 3 big swinging days. The festival provides an amazing list of artists that cover the entire spectrum of the Jazz genre, from funk to fusion and everything in between you are sure to get your fix of that smooth jazz we all love.

Set in the heart of the cosy Thredbo village, you are able to walk from venue to venue following where your ears guide you or the beat in your step takes you. The festival offers intimate performances in restaurants, bars, poolside and the village square allowing for the audience to feel the energy of all the jazz acts and performances.

The amazing dinner performances are a must to check out, so make sure you secure a booking. Sit back, relax and listen to legendary jazz guitarist George Golla joined by star singer Jackie Cooper for a highly anticipated act called ‘Lunch with a Legend’. Whilst enjoying a lovely meal, George will delight fans with a handful of stories from the past and play the tunes you all love and enjoy.

Some standout artists to look out for during the festival are Mahalia Simpson the acclaimed X-Factor contestant, brining her smooth soul vibes to the Snowy Mountins for the first time. On top of that we have The Big Ol Bus Band who will be offering swinging jazz tunes all night long, joining them are Nairobi Trio, Dixie Street All Stars, Clayton Doley, Psycho-Zydeco, Hammerhead and many more!

We hope you can come and be a part of the 3 day jazz infused festival and join us for a swinging weekend in the Snowy Mountains.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
