Our Revised Winter 2020 Season
To enable the resort to open for skiing and snowboarding, we’re open on a revised operating model that has been developed under the advice provided by the NSW Health Department and the State and Federal Governments – please see further information below.

To assist in the easing of restrictions, the Australian Government is asking all Australians to download the COVIDSafe app. This will provide the Government confidence that they can find and contain the spread and will mean Governments can ease restrictions, thereby keeping our season safe. Please download the COVIDSafe App here.

We’ll be updating this page regularly as more information relating to COVID-19 comes to hand, so please continue to check in here.

Updated on 6 July 2020

Let’s Keep Our Season Safe

  • Queue Tip To Tail
  • Two Per Cabin
  • Two Per Quad Chair
  • Households May Load Together
  • Be Wise, Sanitise
  • Stay 1.5m Apart

Health and Safety

To enable us to ski and snowboard this winter, we’ve needed to implement these preventative measures across the resort this winter:

  • We’re continuing to operate within the Government’s regulations as and when they evolve
  • We’re strictly implementing and promoting social distancing measures. Some of these include:
    • We’re limiting the number of skiers and snowboarders on the mountain each day by up to 50% of our normal capacity at this point. All guests will need to pre-purchase day lift passes or multi-day passes prior to arrival via the Online Shop. Numbers will be capped at the maximum number of guests we are permitted to have skiing and snowboarding in the resort per day.
    • We’re introducing lift line spacing to adhere to the 1.5m social distancing guidelines. It’s all about keeping it ‘tip to tail’ this season.
    • We’re asking guests to socially distance on lifts with two per quad chair, two per gondola cabin and one per T-bar (with the exception of households which will be able to ride together)
    • We’re only offering private Snow Sport lessons. No group Snow Sport lessons or programs.
    • We’re encouraging contactless payment across the resort.
    • We’re adding clear signage and floor markers in all facilities to keep people 1.5m apart.
    • We’ve installed physical barriers for queues and counters.
    • We’re limiting venue occupancy to align with the Government’s regulations.
    • We’re not planning any events that bring large groups of people together.
  • We’re strictly adhering to best practises in hygiene and sanitisation across the resort including the following:
    • We’ve installed sanitisation stations throughout the resort.
    • We’ve incorporated new procedures to effectively sanitise high use areas including chairlifts, gondola cabins and rental equipment.
    • We’re further promoting best practice hygiene etiquette amongst staff and guests.
    • We’re following stringent practises in cleaning all resort facilities.
    • We’re asking guests and employees to stay home if they’re unwell.

The Australian Department of Health’s Guidelines can be found here.

If you present with cold symptoms, please call Thredbo Medical Centre first on (02) 6457 6254 (between 9am – 5pm) to make an appointment before arriving for consultation.

All winter 2020 list passes must be pre-purchased online, prior to arrival.

As more terrain is now opening up, we’re releasing additional passes. We’ll be updating this page as and when more passes become available so continue to check in here over the coming weeks.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has announced that tobogganing, sledding and snow-tubing is prohibited in the Kosciuszko National Park during the 2020 snow season. Further, NPWS and the resorts are asking visitors not to visit the ski resorts in 2020 specifically for snow play activities. This is because there are no areas allocated for snow play or tobogganing in 2020 due to the resorts COVID Safe Operating Plan. Download NPWS FAQs

To allow us to comply with social distancing restrictions, at this point we are unable to offer group lessons.

Due to the need to limit Thredbo’s capacity for winter by up to 50% per day, we are unable to prioritise lift passes for guests with pre-booked accommodation. We have considered all our stakeholders in developing our model.

If you purchase your pass 7 or more business days in advance, you can elect to have your MyThredbo card posted out to you for free. Remember to upload a passport style photo to your Thredbo account so we can post your new card. Once you receive it you can head straight to the chairlifts upon arrival.

If you elect to pick up your MyThredbo card in resort, or purchase your pass less than 7 business days in advance, they can also be collected in person from the Friday Flat Booths and at Valley Terminal. Strict queuing restrictions will adhere to all government social distancing guidelines.

No, unfortunately this year there will be no promotions such as ‘Buy Early and Save’, ‘Kids Ski Free’, first timer lift passes or discounts offered when you bundle your accommodation with lift passes.
