What’s On This Weekend | Foodie Experiences, Beautiful Weather & A Mountain Of Adventures

Posted on 22 Feb, 2024 in Festivals & Events

With Thredbo’s Taste Of The Snowies Festival bringing a host of gourmet foodie experiences to the village plus a mountain of beautiful hikes and thrilling downhill MTB trails to explore, Thredbo is the place to be this weekend. From Friday to Sunday, make the most of each day with this itinerary.

Thursday 29 March

Arrive, settle in and get your weekend started on the right foot at one of our restaurants. From gourmet modern Australian cuisine at Cascades Restaurant to delicious Italian fare at the Alpine Pizzeria or a relaxed meal at the Local Pub, there’s a great option to suit everyone in Thredbo Village.

Friday 1 March

Make the most of the weekend by squeezing in as many activities as possible! Pick from golf, disc golf, tennis, a workout at the gym or laps of the pool at Thredbo Leisure Centre. Hot tip? Make sure to grab an Adventure Pass Upgrade with your lift pass to unlock access to all of these activities from only $10 extra per day.

For lunch, pack a picnic and head up the Kosciuszko Chairlift for a walk down the picturesque Merritts Nature Track. At the start, see if you can find the stunning rockpools off to the left of the track. Along your way down, you’ll find Australia’s most iconic picnic table with views as far as the eye can see. The perfect place for lunch. As you arrive back to the village, take a stroll along the Thredbo River and through the Golf Course loop where you’ll spot blooming wildflowers and maybe even spot some native animals.

For a special foodie experience on Friday night, make sure to book in for Canvas + Cocktails with Brad Spalding Wildbrumby Distillery Paint at Lounge Bar on Friday night. You’ll have the opportunity to paint alongside artist Brad while enjoying a welcome Wildbrumby cocktail plus a schnapps tasting and grazing boards throughout the evening. Grab your tickets HERE.

Saturday 2 March

Today is the day you’re going to tick off a bucket list item by reaching the top of Australia’s highest mountain, Mt Kosciuszko! To get the most out of this experience, book a Guided Hike and let our knowledgeable local guides show you the way while teaching about the flora and fauna of the area.

On Saturday afternoon from 12PM – 5PM, grab your friends and family and head to the Village Green to explore the Taste Of The Snowies Gourmet Market. Sample the region’s best produce from 27 local suppliers, chat with the winemakers, distillers, brewers and chefs, and listen to live music as you kick back on a picnic rug. Grab your tickets HERE.

Sunday 3 March

Grab your bikes! This morning is all about chasing downhill thrills at Thredbo’s Mountain Bike Park — Australia’s only lift-accessed gravity mountain bike trails. If it’s your first time mountain bike riding, make sure you check out our Beginner Guide which has all of the information you’ll need to take on day one.

After working up an appetite on the trails, make sure to refuel at Eagles Nest, Australia’s highest restaurant! Perched 1937 metres above Thredbo Village, this is the perfect pit stop where you can enjoy incredible views of the Snowy Mountains with delicious pizzas and spritz’s in hand.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
