USA

Some of the USA’s most popular resorts are on the Mountain Collective, including Aspen Snowmass and Mammoth Mountain. Hop from resort to resort, powder day to powder day, with 11 US ski resorts in total: Alta Ski Area, Snowbird and Snow Basin Resort in Utah, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows in Lake Tahoe, Sugarbush in Vermont, Sun Valley in Idahoe, Taos Ski Resort and Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado. What a line up.

Aspen Snowmass

Located in Colorado, Aspen is one of the US’s most popular resorts. It covers 4 areas and over 5300 acres of terrain between Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. Aspen town has a reputation for its endless dining, nightlife and shopping options. It’s also not a bad spot for some celebrity spotting, being one of the top picks for some of Hollywood’s big names including Kevin Costner, Robert McNamara, Jack Nicholson, Goldie Hawn and Michael Eisner.

Mammoth Mountain

Mammoth Mountain Resort has the highest summit elevation in the state of California at 3368m. It has 3500+ acres of terrain to hit up and a massive 3100ft vertical drop, as well as a notoriously long season (often well into summer, July or August!) with an average of over 100m of snowfall in a season.

Alta Ski Area

Located in Utah, Alta is known for awesome snowfall and diverse, challenging terrain – with 75% of it’s terrain either intermediate or advanced. It’s one of the oldest resorts in the US (open since 1939) and is one of the only skiers-only resorts.

 

Snowbird

Also in Utah, you can hop across from Alta – they’re less than 2km apart! Renowned as a powder haven, Snowbird has the longest ski season in Utah and is known for it’s diverse, steep, challenging runs, definitely the spot to go for the advanced and expert riders.

Snow Basin Resort

Located only about 45minutes from the Salt Lake City international airport, Snow Basin resort is often overlooked but is a hidden gem. With 4 terrain parks and diverse runs, along with that famously light Utah powder, it’s one worth hitting up.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Located in Wyoming, Jackson Hole resort has 2 mountains: Apres Vous and Rendezvous and the resort is known for its fun steep terrain and incredible scenery. Another pick for the more advanced riders looking for some steep terrain, with over 1220 vertical metres. Consistently ranked as one of the best resorts in Northern America with lots of fantastic lodging and hotel options and a great apres scene.

 

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows

Located in North Lake Tahoe in California, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows spans a huge 6000 skiable acres with 42 lifts and 270 trails – you’ve got plenty of choice. heaps of terrain, including lots of beginner and intermediate options as well as a huge number of restaurants, galleries and boutiques.

Sugarbush

Sugarbush, aka “the Bush” to locals, is located in Vermont and has 600 skiable acres, and is well known for its awesome 2000 acress of backcountry skiing to explore in the Slide Brook Wilderness area. A smaller resort but not one to be overlooked, particularly if you love hiking out for some of that magical untouched terrain.

Sun Valley

Sun Valley is located in and has 2 mountains: Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain with some awesome off-piste bowls and glades to get amongst. Dollar Mountain is great for beginners and the resort has over 2000 acres of terrain to ride. Sun Valley is known for its old-world European charm.

Taos Ski Resort

Located in New Mxico, Taos Ski Resort is a short drive from Taos Regional airport, as well as close to Santa Fe and Alburquerque. The resort has 1200 skiable acres, with lots of options especially for intermediate and advanced riders with awesome powder days. Taos boasts the luxe Blake Hotel – opened this year – which features an exquisite art collection and decor, sophisticated rooms and day spa.

Telluride Ski Resort

Located not too far from Denver, Colorado, Telluride is another of one of the most popular US resorts with a beautiful European-style town and a summit of 4008m. Telluride is an iconic Colorado bucket-list location with awesome powder, off-the-charts apres scene including film festivals, world-class restaurants and a never-ending party vibe.

CANADA

Everyone loves beautiful Canada, and with Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise Ski Resort and Revelstoke Mountain Resort all Mountain Collective Partners, there’s plenty of choice for your dose of powder this winter.

Banff and Lake Louise Resort

The ski towns of Banff Sunshine and Lake Louise are home to the distinctive Canadian rockies mountain resorts of Mt. Norquay, The Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village with a total of 8000 acres of terrain to ride. Lake Louise is the largest resort of of the”Big 3″ with a diverse range of options for riders of all ages and abilities and plenty of options for freestyle riders.  With that iconic turquoise lake the resort boasts stunning views, located in the Banff national park, and has a bustling village scene.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort

Located in British Columbia, Revelstoke has the biggest vertical drop in North America with 1700 vertical metres, let alone it’s longest run at over 15km! The village is ever-growing and the resort has 3121 acres of terrain to explore, with some awesome high alpine bowls and also fantastic groomed runs, along with some insane back country skiing.

JAPAN

Huge news this year is the addition of Niseko United resort to the list of Mountain Collective affiliates, alongside existing affiliate Hakuba Valley, Japan’s largest ski resort. Japan is renowned for its insane powder but with all the smaller areas within both larger options, there really is something for everyone. Japan is only a short flight from Australia and with your pass you can snag 5 days of 50% of one day passes.

Niseko United

Niseko United – Japan’s no. 1 resort – actually has four awesome resorts within it: Niseko HANAZONO, Niseko Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village and Niseko Annupuri. Famous for its consistently deep, dry, light powder, Niseko is a favourite amongst the dedicated riders. There’s a huge variety of groomed runs as well for riders of all abilities, as well as plenty of freestyle options. The restaurants and nightlife in Hirafu are fantastic, with accomodatio and dining options in each of the smaller areas as well.

Hakuba Valley

Hakuba Valley also encompasses a huge 10 resorts within it: Jiigatake Snow Resort, Kashimayari Sports Village, Hakuba Sanosaka Snow Resort, Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort, Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park, Hakuba Happo-one Snow Resort, Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field, Tsugaike Kogen Snow Resort, Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort and Hakuba Cortina Snow Resort. Hakuba both caters well to english-speaking guests as well as providing a fantastic Japanese cultural experience and has a wonderful village vibe.

NEW ZEALAND

Clearly we all love the southern-hemisphere’s winter, and it’s never too early to plan for the next one. You can get your Thredbo fix and then hop across the ditch for your Kiwi hit all in one winter with Coronet Peak and The Remarkables both Mountain Collective partners.

These two partner ski resorts are just a short drive up from the iconic beautiful Queenstown on New Zealand’s South Island, situated right on the edge of Lake Wakatipu. Both offer diverse terrain with some fun hidden backcountry powder stashes as well as fantastic beginner and intermediate slopes. Queenstown has an incredible nightlife with world class restaurants, cafes, night clubs and excellent shopping.
