Project Shred 2025: Groms, Goals & Good Times
Posted on 15 Jul, 2025
This weekend, the future of Aussie snow sports was well and truly on show at Thredbo as Project Shred returned with 170 stoked groms, 15 legendary coaches (including 7 Olympians) and one custom-built terrain park designed for progression, confidence and fun.
From first park laps to brand new tricks, the next generation of shredders absolutely sent it – and the vibe on the mountain? Electric.
Learning From The Best In The Game
What makes Project Shred so special? The coaching lineup. This year, kids were lucky enough to ride alongside an unreal crew of elite athletes and mentors including Paralympian Ben Tudhope and Olympians Tess Coady, Scott Kneller, Josie Baff, Abi Harrigan, Russ Henshaw and Manuela Berchtold.
They were joined by Thredbo ambassadors and snow sports legends, Jye Kearney, Juan George, Airish George, Andy James, Arkie Ellis, Joey Ellis, Charles Beckinsale, Beau Goodwin and Nate Goodwin.
One of the most inspiring full-circle moments came from Josie Baff, who once attended the event as a grom herself. Now an Olympian, Josie returned this year as a coach – sharing her experience and passion with the next generation and proving just how far these events can take you.
With tailored tips, trick breakdowns and plenty of encouragement, the coaches helped groms push past their comfort zones and unlock new skills with confidence.
A Park Built For Progression
To match the hype, the Thredbo Parks team designed a custom progression park specifically for Project Shred. With grom-friendly jumps, boxes and rollers, it was the perfect playground for kids to build their skills and try something new.
Whether it was their first time hitting a feature or they were out to stomp a personal best, every single grom rose to the occasion – cheered on by coaches, parents and new mates.
The Stoke Is Real
More than just a skills clinic, Project Shred is about building community, confidence and a lifelong love for the mountains. It’s a chance for the next generation to learn from their heroes, connect with like-minded riders and realise just how much they’re capable of.
As the sun set over Thredbo and high-fives echoed across the village, one thing was clear – the next wave of Aussie shredders isn’t just coming… they’re already here.
