Snow, Sun, Smiles & Stoke…A Taste Of What’s To Come

Posted on 11 Jun, 2017 in Festivals & Events

One Of The Best Starts To A Season

Whether you were a first-time skier, an expert in après, a snowball enthusiast or a seasoned snow bunny, there was no shortage of stoke during a weekend of huge parties, freshly groomed trails and plenty of high fives to celebrate our 60th season.

Snow & Sun…A little word with the Snow Gods earlier in the week paid sunny, blue sky dividends for a beautiful weekend of bluebird mountain riding as skiers and boarders of all levels carved, catapulted, careered and cruised down the freshly groomed trails of The Cruiser Area, High Noon & Friday Flat with plenty of smiles all round.

Smiles & Stoke: But that’s not where the fun ended – the village was where the stoke levels hit an all-time high. Saturday was buzzing with littlies getting their faces painted, local shredders making their own vintage tee shirts and the sound of a chainsaw as Kenji Ogawa worked his magic to create a huge ice sculpture in the Village Square.

The night went off with a bang (literally) with a huge fireworks display, a flare run, light projections and an epppiccccc party right in the centre of the village where the Alice Ivy, Faders and Montainge had us raving like fan girls at a Justin Bieber concert.

Celebrations: The celebrations continued into Sunday, with a colourful display of retro attire modelled by some enthusiastic locals at the G.H.Mumm Long Lunch, and the handing over of a beautiful new Community Bell to be installed at the highest lifted point in Australia. All in all, celebrations of 60 years of stoke off to super start.

If opening weekend’s a taste of what’s to come for the season…we’re already craving more.
