Snowbigdeal: The Weekly Wrap

It’s been an action packed week here at Thredbo with a heap of fresh natural snow, non-stop snow flurries, a full schedule of school holiday activities and events that the whole family can enjoy.

Mother Nature delivered the goods this week with over 25cm of fresh snow falling since Wednesday, with some epic wind stashes hidden across the mountain.

With school holidays in full swing, there were a bunch of activities for family to get involved in.

The youngsters were able to let loose on the slopes throughout the week as part of the LEGO Friends Snow Festival. It was great to see families and friends snapping photos in front of the interactive life size LEGO snow sculpture on the mountain before heading off on a snow hunt adventure to track down the missing skis and snowboards of the LEGO Friends in order to claim their prizes.

Saturday night was packed full of festivities with fireworks, flare runs, flurries and of course our favourite groove band La Fiesta who got the village square shaking their tail feathers to modern takes on classic and popular songs.

By the time Sunday swung around, hundreds of mini shredders had descended on Friday Flat, all headed for the newly purpose built Mini Shred terrain park. There were little rippers as far as the eye could see, all here to hone their park skills and learn from the best of the best  – gold medalist Torah Bright and her team of professional snowboard and ski coaches.

Youngsters were filling up their trick bag, and even putting some of the adults to shame by the end of the day with some impossible tricks going down.

The prize pool was stacked with goodies including snowboards, boots, jackets, pants and a personally signed poster and t-shirt for every participant.
