THREDBO GOES FIRST BASE: THE WEEKLY WRAP-UP

Posted on 2 Jul, 2017

Well it’s been another massive week in Thredbo with more partying, retro-ing and riding than you can poke a ski pole at. Here’s a countdown 5 to 1 of the week that was as we continue our celebration of 60 years of Thredbo:

5. We went hunting for LEGO

The LEGO Friends Snow Festival kicked off on the weekend. It was amazing to see the smiles from kids and their families as they went on a snow hunt adventure together, looking  for the Thredbo Friends’ skis and snowboards hidden on the mountain. If you’re feeling a bit left out, don’t worry, the adventure continues throughout the whole festival until July 15 – come join us up on the mountain on the Snow Hunt, get your clues on the @thredboresort Instagram story and don’t forget to come get your prize! More on the LEGO Snow Festival here.

4. The Supertrail was rippin’ (i.e. with flares, fireworks and a whole lot of fanatics)

Two exciting things to note here: 1) the Supertrail, Australia’s longest run, opened this weekend – in other words, for anyone who missed leg day at the gym last week, don’t worry because Thredbo had you covered with this leg burner/ hot dogger. What’s more, 2) you could do leg day and leg night! There was an epic flare run on Saturday night on the Supertrail which finished with a bang (well a few bangs) with an insane fireworks display in the village.

3. Thredbo got in the Play Zone – aka the LEGO Play Zone

If there’s one thing kids are good at, it’s building things. In fact, in at the LEGO Friends Play Zone this weekend, Thredbo got a couple of new ski lifts (made of LEGO that is), amongst other amazing creations from some talented young LEGO-engineers and architects.

2. We shredded at the Rail Jam

The first Rail Jam of the season on Friday night was all about the #SHRED. There were some pretty insane tricks by those who are talented enough to show the rest of us how to look rippin’ – including of course some impressive groms punching (and jumping) well above their weight! There was much fun to be had on the sidelines too – the event made for quite a spectacle under the night lights. Bring on the next event of the Snow Series…Ridercross.

1. Thredbo went First Base with Hayden James

At the snow, you know it’s all about that base: you need a good snow base (tick – thanks to our legendary snow makers), a good base on your skis, but most importantly: you need a solid apres-base. And by that we mean we dropped all the way to First Base, clad in our best retro onsies and and ugly sweaters, with Tom Tilley and Danny Clayton at an epic poolside party on Saturday night, featuring one of our favourites – Hayden James.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
