A Top to Bottom Weekend of Racing and Apres

Posted on 11 Aug, 2017

By Zoë Fitzpatrick

It’s getting closer to the iconic G.H. Mumm Top to Bottom race weekend once again on August, and you know what that means…racing, apres-ing and partying harder than your Mumm. Whether you’re a racer or not, the line-up of events  will have you buzzing with adrenaline – we’ve packed the day from top to bottom.

Starting at the top…racer ready

If you’re tuning up those edges ready for the race then your day will start on a high… at the top of the Supertrail, Australia’s longest run. With rider briefing at the bottom of the Kozi chair at 6.30am, you’ll certainly be getting up at the top of the morning. As they say, the early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the early racer gets more time to feel those worms-turning into butterflies in their stomach as the nerves kick in (don’t worry – nerves make you go faster). If you’re up for a bit of adrenaline, check out the racer categories and make sure you register here by August 10. You’ll soon find out when you get to the top of that lift that the day only goes down from here…

A little further down…G.H Mumm Champagne Breakfast

Racing might not be your thing, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get a piece of the top of the morning. Your day, whilst still starting at a sparrow’s fart, may go downhill more quickly than the racers you watch as you sip your bubbly at the G.H. Mumm Champagne Breakfast – held at Kareela Hutte, boasting front-row seats of the race. As a VIP you get the full Thredbo experience, uploading at 6am on Snowgums Chair and being able to make the claim of being some of the “highest people in Australia” for that morning (*high on excitement and adrenaline of course). You’ll see the sun rise as you enjoy your Champagne and a luxe breakfast and of course once the racers have gone past (blink and you’ll miss them), you’re already in the prime spot to make first tracks for the day. Head here for more info on cost & bookings.

Heading further down the day…to the G.H. Mumm Apres Party on the Slopes

Whether you’re racing or not, your day is definitely going downhill from here, as G.H. Mumm knows how to throw an Apres Party. From 1-4pm, DJ Scott Callaghan will be spinning tunes from the Kareela Hutte deck, so make sure you don’t miss out on the slope-side action and of course, another glass of bubbles (or two).

…and ending at the bottom: G.H. Mumm Apres Party featuring Jess Porsches & Friends

You might have thought you went from top to bottom earlier in the morning but you haven’t done it properly until you get low at the apres party of the season – hosted by the legends at G.H. Mumm, so you know there will be (even more) champagne flowing and some sick beats pumping, thanks to Sydney DJ and producer Jesse Porsches. Having written tunes for the likes of Flume, Jesse knows what it takes to throw a good party, and he’s bringing a couple of friends along to keep it going allll night – with Elizabeth Rose, Moza and Commandeur hitting up the Poolside Terrace from 5pm.

We’ve got TWO of these parties: on both Friday and Satuday, so when we say we’ve got your weekend covered from top to bottom, we mean we’ve filled your G.H. Mumm glass so far to the top, it’s spilling over the sides…and in true Thredbo party style, we trust you’ll be there to drink every last drop, all the way to the bottom.
