A Snow Day in Thredbo – 30cm of Fresh Powder!

It was a ‘Freshies Friday’ after receiving 30cm of snow, setting up some of the best conditions so far this season. The early birds were welcomed with a dumping of snow right down to the village, and the flakes continued to fall throughout the day.

The huge night of fresh snow made for great coverage on all the runs from top to bottom. Drier conditions on the higher slopes, with plenty of fresh stashes to disturb both on and off-piste.

Shredders headed towards the Powder Bowl, the Bluff and Antons to play in the pow and have fun with the natural features. It was a full-day of carving up the Basin, Cruiser and Supertrail.
The Cruiser area was popular for the beginners edging closer to that intermediate level, with soft, fresh conditions to perfect those wide turns and techniques.

It was a busy day for the adrenaline junkies with the opening of the new Kozzie Terrain Park. Loads of action shots taken on the 35 foot jump. Plenty of gnarly shapes made on the hip jumps and tubes.

Lots of smiles on Friday Flat today… first timers had soft conditions to learn on, the kiddies had too much fun to remember that school goes back next week, and there was loads of fresh snow continuing to fall throughout the day – meaning plenty of snowball fights!

It’ going to be an awesome weekend of riding after this huge 30cm dumping. The sun is expected to make a reappearance on Saturday, followed by a string of blue sky days heading into next week.
