Mountain Update: Best Opening Conditions in Years…

We were greeted late last week with a massive early season storm named “Stormin Norman”, who kindly delivered a series of cold fronts that blanketed the mountains across the weekend, delivering massive 85cm of fresh snow, making for one of the best openings in years.
It was a team effort from Mother Nature, snowmakers and the groomers over the course of the past 5 days who had the slopes in great shape for this early in the season. Very cold temperatures saw snowmakers fire up for an incredible sixty continuous hours across the middle and lower slopes, perfectly complementing the natural falls and building a good foundation for the winter ahead.
“Conditions were improving by the hour right across the weekend, with hefty accumulations about the higher areas, where the wind blew the snow in from the Main Range. It was great to get the Cruiser open Saturday, High Noon on Sunday and we expect to have even more lifts and terrain open by the weekend” said Peter Fleming – Thredbo Mountain Manager.
Based on this weeks forecast for more solid snowmaking, we’re expecting that the Supertrail and Antons will make their season debuts this Friday, followed by The Basin on Saturday. Woohoo!
