Australia’s highest Easter Egg Hunt, perfect weather and activities galore saw record numbers head for the hills this Easter and with around 300kg of chocolates consumed and $10,000 given away Thredbo was buzzing.
The weather was at its alpine best, luring visitors outdoors and up the chairlift with standing on Australia’s highest peak, Mt Kosciuszko, a big attraction. Thredbo’s Mountain Bike Park was a hive of activity with record numbers taking on the gravity trails over the four days. The new section of the Flow trail premiered on Friday and was a hit will all riders, offering more flow than ever before.
Now in its fourth year, the Golden Easter Egg Hunt pulled a huge crowd with over 1700 people lining up to grab a share of the $10,000 cash laden Lindt Easter Eggs.
Happy hunters lined up for a mass start and once the siren sounded the sea of searchers flooded Friday Flat – some ran flat out, some walked and some took a more slow and steady approach.
The race to the top tactic saw uni student Liam Kelly from Fingal Bay unearth the big one.
The littlies had an action packed morning as they had their very own Giant Easter Egg Hunt. The kids event has been a Thredbo Easter tradition for over 30 years and this year around 600 children raced across Friday Flat to secure their stash of the scattered 7,000 Lindt eggs. Thanks to NSW Fire and Rescue, Thredbo’s Easter Bunny arrived in style on the fire truck, enthralling the mini choc eating crowd.
The Thredbo Easter Holiday Adventure Festival was a hit with young visitors with biking, face painting and craft classes adding to the holiday excitement in Thredbo.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
