Weekend Wrap: Turns, Transitions & Rockin’ Après

It was all about catching air and rockin’ out this weekend! From lapping Australia’s first top to bottom transition park to enjoying the spring conditions and afternoon après…it made for a weekend to remember.

The Thredbo Tranny Fest supported by Volcom kicked off on Friday and ran across the entire weekend in Australia’s first ever top to bottom transition park. This made for a wild weekend of riding with friends, learning new tricks and hot lapping the fun and friendly set up with the pro Volcom team.

Also on Friday was SKOLF, a hybrid competition, combining the format of golf, with the excitement of snowboarding…The top 40 pro Australian snowboarders took on the challenge of riding over 9 holes on 9 unique snowboard features, performing tricks on each hole, with scoring similar to golf on a scorecard, with the lowest score winning the day.

The après this weekend was a change of pace…it was all about rockin’ out with the spring vibes in the air. The Goons of Doom and Blistar hit stage at the Keller Bar and pumped up the crowd with their surf and garage rock tunes.

With a fresh dusting of snow overnight on Saturday, conditions were prime on Sunday for a spring surprise. A nice dusting of light dry snow meant that those who were keen enough found some tasty little powder stashes up high, the perfect way to end a classic spring weekend in the mountains.
