Weekly Wrap: The perfect spring storm

Posted on 8 Sep, 2019

It was an amazing week to kick off the start of September.

There was a mixed bag of weather this week, starting off with bluebird days and ending with a punchy stormy system making its way through, bringing totals of up to 30cm across the mountain.

It was the perfect spring storm to top up the mountain with fresh snow, and give riders a smooth cruise down the slopes.

The winds did pick up at the end of the week, creating lots of powder stashes, and some drifting up high.

It was great week of riding, with 100% of our lifts operating.
The Central Spur areas, Supertrail and Ture Blue were a hit with more advanced riders.

Intermediates had lots of fun around the Cruiser areas, as well as Basin. Highnoon was also looking fantastic this week for intermediates looking for a challenge.

Beginners took it easy on Friday Flat, as well as checking out Karels, which had the best views in the house.

Après also went into overdrive this week, with our most colourful event of the season, Rainbow Mountain.
The fabulous five day event was filled with divas, partying, and a whole lot of glitter.

The fun started on Wednesday and went right through until Sunday.
The celebrations really took off on Thursday, with the Cloud 9 Restaurant pop-up at Kareela Hutte.

Guests gathered in their most vibrant attire and enjoyed a lavish sparkling lunch, where they were treated to a delicious three course meal, endless rose, and funky tunes from a special guest DJ.

The lunch quickly turned into a wild Kareela party, with guests dancing on tables, forming conga lines, and singing to the classics.

The fun continued right down to the village, with the Absolut Après Session in Lounge Bar, and Lip Sync Karaoke at Schuss Bar, where the queens really put on a show.

Friday was another massive day of events for the Rainbow Mountain team, starting with a big day of skiing and snowboarding, before sliding straight into Lounge Bar for another huge night of entertainment.

The fun wasn’t over just yet, with another huge day of events on Saturday. The Rainbow Mountain crew took over the mountain and carved up the slopes, before heading to the Alpine Bar for a massive outdoor concert, with mega sensation Kira Puru headlining the show.

It was an unforgettable week, with amazing spring conditions, huge parties, and a whole lot of glitter.
