Weekly Wrap: A huge week of skiing, snowboarding and apres.

Posted on 27 Jul, 2019

It was a jam packed week to wrap up a mammoth month of great skiing, snowboarding and continuous après.

We had a mid-week sprinkle of snow, with 15cm of fresh snowfall topping up the slopes, giving riders a nice cruise down the mountain.
The off-piste runs were the favourite, with skiers and boarders chasing those powder stashes.

Temperatures also stayed low this week, allowing for our mountain crew to fire up the snow machines.
The winds did pick up at the start of the week, creating lots of wind-blown stashes at the top of the mountain.

Thanks to our recent snowfalls, we were able to open up 100% of our lifts, with Sponars T-bar making its debut on Thursday.
Riders headed straight for the Central Spur areas, with Exhibition being the favourite.

Après went into overdrive this week, with Kosciuszko Pale Ale Uni Week in full motion.
The stream of non-stop partying started early, with wild parties beginning on Sunday.

The fun continued all week, with some of Australias best Dj’s filling the stages every night and bringing the good vibes.

Thursday had uni students strip down and bare it all at the Kosci in you Cossies ride, followed by a massive live concert at the Alpine bar, and as always a huge after party at the Keller Bar.

Saturday brought even more fun, with Holy Holy presented by Corona Sunsets.
Crowds started the party early with Midday Session at Merritts Mountain House, before heading to the Alpine bar to dance the night away to a range of legendary acts.

The concert ended with a bang, with indie rock band Holy Holy taking centre stage and giving the crowds a show they won’t forget.

Of course, the night didn’t end there with a massive after party at the Keller Bar.

It wasn’t all about partying this week, with a tonne of on and off mountain events.
There was fun for all ages with Christmas in July.
Crowds gathered to get a pic with the big man in red, whilst also treating themselves to a few Christmas cookies.

We also kicked off Enviro Week on Monday with a picturesque back-country hike to the iconic Mt Kosciuszko, with Thredbo Ambassador and Olympian, Torah Bright leading the team.

With Enviro week in full swing, Thredbo teamed up with Toyota and Greenfleet to hold a National Tree Day Donation. Guests were able to purchase a tree for $4 which would offset their emissions from their travels to the snow. Guests were thrilled to do their part for the backyard we love, with Thredbo going even further, and promising to match the donations dollar for dollar.

Wednesday saw some of the world‘s best rail snowboarders gather at Jyes Jam, all thanks to Burton. Guests gathered around the Friday Flat stairs in awe of the incredibly talented riders.

Friday and Saturday saw those season snow lovers come back to race in the iconic Thredbo Masters. The race suits were on and the competition was fierce, with riders battling it out to be crowned the Master of Thredbo.
