Today we are very excited to be releasing our Backcountry Tours for the 2020 season!
Thredbo Resort has teamed up with The North Face to offer these incredible guided tours that take you on skis or snowboard past the resort boundaries.
You’ll explore the vast and beautiful Main Range with some of the country’s best backcountry guides.
Not only will you ride incredible terrain, you’ll learn important backcountry safety skills.
There are four tours available to suit all backcountry skill levels. Those new to backcountry will be able to take the Introduction to Backcountry Tour for $199 (including lift access for lifts used during the tour). This tour is perfect for those who’ve never tried alpine touring but wondered what it’s all about!
Your guide will introduce you to the specialist equipment, safety aspects and skills required to negotiate simple backcountry terrain. You’ll learn a lot during this tour and many of your backcountry questions will be answered. It’s also a prerequisite before joining our other, more demanding tours.
Each guest is provided with a loan North Face backpack that contains a beacon, probe and shovel. Snowshoes, splitboards and touring skis are available for rental so you don’t need to purchase any gear beforehand.
Those looking to find the perfect line and score fresh snow will love our Beyond The Boundaries Tour for $299. Learn all the backcountry skills, safety and awareness and explore some of the best and most unique terrain Australia has to offer. From Ramshead to Mt Kosciuszko, you’ll be on a mission to find the best turns on offer!
Advanced riders will be able to have an adventure like no other on our Advanced Adventurer Tour for $299. Your guide will take you to some of Australia’s best backcountry spots where you’ll ski or snowboard challenging terrain, learn advanced backcountry skills and become familiar with riding more technical terrain. The advanced tours allow you to summit and ride some of Australia’s highest peaks.

Tours require a minimum of 2 guests with a maximum of 5 people per tour.
