From the early hours of Sunday morning, the temperatures have dipped to as low as a chilly -4.4 °C with a windchill temperature of -12°C, serving up snowflakes across Thredbo Village and the upper mountain.
With the temperatures expected to stay around zero for the rest of the day and into tomorrow, the snow is sticking around on the ground, particularly on the upper mountain – bringing much excitement and anticipation for the winter ahead!
Meteorologist, Ben Domensino at Weatherzone gave us an insider word on the seasonal outlook and says “When we combine a neutral Pacific Ocean, a neutral or negative Indian Ocean Dipole and the prospect of negative swings in the Southern Annular Mode this winter, the outlook suggests that we should see near to above-average snow in the Australian alps this season.”
Getting amongst it, Thredbo’s media team were able to capture the snowy scenes over the weekend and this morning. Check out all the vision below.
