Environment Week is in full swing here at Thredbo, with a series of events that celebrate our long list of environmental initiatives and raise awareness about how we can all help protect the environment.
On Monday, we hosted a Tour to the Top which saw guests and staff hike to the top of Mt Kosciuszko to spend time appreciating the outdoors and raising awareness about our environmental initiatives.

Following the hike, the community enjoyed an Environment & Sustainability Night at the Kosciusko Room with a series of presentations from passionate environmental speakers. Guests heard from Huw Kingston about his Alpine Odyssey expedition where he plans to ski the entire 600km length of the Australian Alps, raising money for Save The Children.
In exciting news, the night also played host to André Russ from EarthCheck and their presentation to Thredbo on achieving the EarthCheck Gold Certification.
As an industry leader in sustainability, Thredbo takes pride in being EarthCheck certified for six years running and has now achieved its Gold Certification for the second year in a row, a first for an Australian snow resort. EarthCheck is the world’s leading environmental certification and benchmarking program for the travel and tourism industry.

And Environment Week is only just getting started! On Friday, Thredbo is teaming up with Green Caffeen to host Free Coffee Day to raise awareness about Green Caffeen’s reusable swap-and-go coffee cup scheme.
Check out Thredbo’s events page for more details on what else you can do to get involved this Environment Week.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
