Two events, one huge day… part two of Thredbo Gravity Series is almost here for 2022!

New year, new goals? With event one of Thredbo’s Gravity Series already in the bag, the next two events are a great chance to get into mountain bike racing whilst still having fun competing against mates.

It will be a day to remember – two huge events in one day taking place on 16 January. The action will kick off at 1.00pm with riders racing against the clock for the fastest time in Richochet Rumble. The first section of the course is the highly popular Ricochet Trail which peels off Easy Street into some of the most flowing sections of track in the bike park.

This low intermediate masterpiece will get riders into a good rhythm before they drop into the steeper turns on lower High Noon and the lower part of the All-Mountain Trail. Racers will then take a breath at creek station before a pinch climb to the top of Home Run, the final stage of this super fun event.

Those who still have fuel in the tank will then compete in the Pump Track Party that afternoon at 5pm. Momentum is key here as racers have to generate as much speed as possible without a single pedal stroke. From the start mound, riders will be unweighting through a series of perfectly placed rollers, tables and doubles. The tall vert berms keep them locked in like a high-speed roller coaster with the fastest lap time taking home the crown.

The Supertrail Scramble is up next on 6 March which is a bolt down the easier sections of Cannonball Downhill and parts of Kosciuszko Flow. The series then wraps up with Chainless Champs on 24 April where racers remove their chain before pumping and holding speed down a 400m vertical racecourse from the start of Centre Link to the Valley Terminal base station.

Thredbo Gravity Series invites anyone from pro’s to amateurs to race and compete for series points on a creative mix of Thredbo’s main gravity trails over five huge events with their own twist. Riders of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join with 18 categories to enter.

This fun style of racing is all about competing against your mates and having a laugh while still pushing the boundaries in a more regionally geared competition. An overall winner will be announced at the end of the series and there is a stack of cash and prizes up for grabs at each event. A presentation is held at the Alpine Bar after every event where competitors receive a free Kosciuszko Pale Ale to celebrate their efforts.
