11th Annual Transfer Banked Slalom Recap

Posted on 16 Aug, 2025

When the most anticipated snowboard event of the year rolls into Thredbo, it brings with it an electric buzz you can feel from the carpark to the top of the course.

This year, Mother Nature decided to turn up the drama with a full-blown blizzard… but if anything, it only added fuel to the fire. The snowboarding community showed up in force, grinning through the gusts and proving that a little whiteout can’t dim the stoke.

For the 11th annual Transfer Banked Slalom, the theme was Arabian Nights, and with the great pyramids dotting the course and a snowy sphynx watching over the berms, it was pure magic!

The Thredbo Park Crew served up a course worthy of the legend: towering banks, lightning-fast turns, and a layout that kept riders guessing right to the end.

It was the kind of day where grit, style, and community spirit mattered just as much as speed, and if we could, we’d do it all over again… storm and all!

Despite the challenging course and conditions, racers went all out to set mind-blowing times and chase glory!

Competition was fierce, but camaraderie shone through from the groms through to the masters, as riders cheered each other on, shared high-fives at the finish, and celebrated every run like it was a win.

A huge shoutout to all our event sponsors who made sure everyone, from competitors to spectators, was looked after in style!

Pirate Life and Yeti kept the drinks flowing, G-Shock kept every second perfectly on point, Sun Bum had everyone stocked up and dreaming of endless sunshine, and Volcom brought the core snowboarding vibes full throttle, with the legendary Bryan Iguchi adding his signature energy to the day.

All eyes were on the podium at the presentations at Merritts Mountain House in the afternoon.

Mia Brookes, Freya Hammerlain & Georgia Baff took out the podium in Open Women.

While Kiwi legend Zephyr Lovelock took out the win in Open Men, alongside Robbie J Walker and Pantxo Wall.

As the celebrations rolled on well into the night, the spirit of community shone brighter than ever. Sure, there are probably a few sore heads this morning, but we know we’re not the only ones already counting down the days until next year’s showdown!

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
