Storm Loading…
Posted on 22 Jul, 2025
There’s a buzz in the air at Thredbo and it’s not just the wind picking up… there’s a storm brewing and we are all on high alert! Our eyes are glued to the forecast as we brace ourselves for another snowstorm – but the real question is, how much will fall?
Temperatures have already started to drop, and ominous-looking clouds linger around the peaks as anticipation hits an all-time high. While we have been spoiled so far when it comes to snowfall this season, there’s simply no such thing as too much… right? Everyone is putting their bets on the snowstorm totals but only time will tell.
The Forecast
Everyone has their weather channel of choice, but let’s have a look at a few!
First up, let’s see what Mountainwatch has to say! With over 10cm forecasted for the next two days, and 50cm in the 7 day forecast… we hope that Reggae is on the money with this one!

Then, we have Snow-Forecast.com, a favourite among those who spend their off-season in Japan – and while we might not be seeing Japan level totals here, the 30cm storm prediction looks veeeery nice!
Some also look to Tyson Millar for his weigh in on the forecast, and while he says that it’s a mixed outlook, there’s apparently some ‘junk in the trunk’ by Sunday through Tuesday! Read more here.
Beyond The Snow
While the anticipation for the snowfall seems a little all-consuming, we can’t ignore that we have a big forecast of good-times guaranteed over the next few weeks in Thredbo.
Thredbo Uni Week is well underway with live music and big vibes all across the mountain. See the full line-up here.

With snowfall predicted over the weekend, and a huge Après Club party on the calendar, it seems we might be in for a repeat of Opening Weekend… and we’re stoked!

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
