Breaking Ground: Brand New Downhill And Jumps Trail Builds Underway
Posted on 14 Apr, 2026 in Biking
It’s been a long time coming… so you’ll have to forgive our excitement about breaking ground on our new downhill build. There’s a certain kind of gravity trail that draws riders from near and far- steep, raw and unforgiving – and this one delivers on all fronts.
Construction is officially underway on what will become our most technical downhill track to date: a full-throttle, double black descent built for advanced riders chasing the next level. Dropping in from the top of the Merritts Gondola, the trail charges straight down the fall line beneath the lift, cutting through rugged, largely untouched alpine terrain. Expect natural rock features, tight technical sections and steep pitches that demand total focus.

To bring this vision to life, we’ve partnered with Elevation Parks, Australia’s most renowned trail builders, to create a line that not only pushes riders – but sets a new benchmark for technical downhill riding in Australia.
This isn’t just a new trail, it’s a return to our roots. Downhill has always been part of Thredbo’s DNA, and this build marks a major step forward in reasserting that identity – delivering more gravity, more tech and more challenge than ever before.

But it’s not just the Downhill diehards who will benefit. Complementing the downhill build, we’re also constructing a brand-new, modern-era intermediate jumps trail, designed to help riders progress their airtime and park skills. Starting in the Cruiser area, this will be Thredbo’s longest jumps line to date, featuring close to 50 jumps before finishing at the Merritts Gondola mid-station.

Together, these new trails signal a new era for Thredbo Gravity – one that caters to both progression and performance, from first jumps to full-send descents.
The news of these builds both making their debut in the 2026/27 season comes at the perfect time… with our Gravity Pass on sale now! For just a $49 deposit, you can lock in unlimited riding plus loads of other benefits, at the lowest possible price. Our advice? Don’t wait.
