Cannonball 2026: Five Days of Full Send in Thredbo

Posted on 16 Feb, 2026

That’s a wrap on Cannonball MTB Festival presented by Boost Mobile… and what a week it’s been.

For five huge days, Thredbo transformed into the beating heart of Australian gravity riding. More than 500 riders rolled into the mountains, over $120,000 in cash and prizes were up for grabs, and thanks to perfectly timed rain early in the week, the dirt stayed all-time from first practice to final podium.

From Enduro to Flow, Dual Slalom to Pump Track, every corner of the bike park was buzzing. The Specialized All-Mountain Enduro set the tone early, pushing riders across the full mountain, while the Fox Flow Motion Cup delivered high-speed rhythm and midweek fireworks. Dual Slalom brought bar-to-bar intensity to Friday Flat, and the Oakley Pump Track Challenge lit up Village Green under lights with a packed crowd cheering every sprint and manual.

But as always, all eyes turned to the big one – the Australian Open Downhill.

With more than 450 competitors dropping in, the downhill track demanded absolute precision. In a nail-biting Pro Men’s final, Troy Brosnan rose to the occasion to take the win ahead of Luke Meier-Smith and Zac Bradley. In the Pro Women’s field, Jenna Hastings claimed victory, with Elleni Turkovic and Pheobe Gale rounding out the podium.

One of the standout stories of the weekend came from Thredbo Ambassador Maddie Lloyd. Racing outside the Pro category, she laid down the fastest overall women’s time on the mountain — a statement ride that has firmly marked her as one to watch.

As the sun dipped behind the peaks, the energy only climbed. Deity Whip Wars drew hundreds of spectators into the finish arena for a spectacle of style and amplitude, with Daniel Turkovic and Zuri Acheson taking out Best Whip and 11-year-old Weston Lukens stealing the show with Best Trick.

Across the week, consistency was key. After stacking podiums in multiple disciplines, Ryan Gilchrist was crowned King of Cannonball, with Elleni Turkovic taking home the Queen of Cannonball title – a reward for an incredibly strong, all-round performance.

Presentations turned into celebrations, and Aussie favourites Hockey Dad closed out the festival with a high-energy live set that had the crowd buzzing well into the night.

Cannonball 2026 delivered it all – and once again proved why it’s the biggest week on the Australian MTB calendar. Until next year.
