Posted on 12 Feb, 2026
Cannonball MTB Festival presented by Boost Mobile has officially kicked off in Thredbo, and the mountain is buzzing.

With more than 500 riders descending on the Thredbo and over $120k in cash and prizes up for grabs, the most anticipated week on the MTB calendar is already delivering.

After some well-timed rainfall earlier in the week, conditions were all-time for day one, with prime dirt across the entire park setting the scene for an unforgettable opening to the festival.

The action began with the Specialized All-Mountain Enduro, a demanding three-stage, 7km course that truly put riders to the test. Spanning the full mountain, competitors dropped in from the top of the Cruiser Chairlift and raced all the way back to Valley Terminal in a course designed to challenge even the most committed enduro purists.

Podium presentations capped off the racing, with Ryan Gilchrist, Thomas Locke and Tim Eaton taking out first, second and third in the Pro Men’s field and Elleni Turkovic, Zana Evans and Sabina Kosarkove securing the top three places in the Pro Women. With cumulative points counting towards the coveted Kind and Queen of Cannonball titles, the leaderboard is already shaping up to be one to watch as the week unfolds.

Off the race track, the Cannonball energy was just as strong. Riders and spectators soaked up the atmosphere with the Specialized Party Lap, led by Dave McMillan and Remy Morton, lighting up the mountain in the morning.

With racing, riding and celebrations rolling on throughout the week, Cannonball is well and truly underway… and this is just the beginning!
