Next Generation of Mountain Bikers Take Over Thredbo for the Boost Mobile Australian MTB Interschools
Posted on 10 Mar, 2026
From 2–6 March, Thredbo MTB Park welcomed more than 1,000 students from over 300 schools across Australia for five huge days of racing at the Boost Mobile Australian MTB Interschools.
The village was buzzing as young riders rolled in ready to compete, challenge themselves and experience the thrill of racing at one of Australia’s premier mountain bike parks.

The massive turnout at this year’s event is a clear sign of the rapid growth of mountain biking in Australia, especially among younger riders. From first-time racers to seasoned competitors, the trails were packed with energy as students pushed their limits and cheered on teammates throughout the week.

Students from Years 3–12 competed across five divisions, with racing taking place in some of the most exciting formats in mountain biking. The action was non-stop across key events including the RockShox Downhill, Fox Flow, Maxxis Pump Track Challenge and the Specialized All-Mountain, giving riders the chance to test their skills across a variety of terrain and disciplines.

With participation continuing to grow every year and the level of talent getting stronger each season, the Boost Mobile Australian MTB Interschools once again proved why it’s one of the biggest highlights on the Australian mountain biking calendar – and a glimpse at the future stars of the sport.
