Ten Years Running? Only If You Vote For It!
Posted on 28 Aug, 2026
For nine years running, Thredbo has taken home the title of Australia’s Best Ski Resort at the World Ski Awards. This year, we’re going for TEN!
We’re pretty proud of holding the title for nine years in a row, and even more proud of everything we’ve been able to achieve this season. If you’re already a Thredbo superfan and don’t need any convincing to vote for us, hit the link below.
Otherwise, keep scrolling to see how we made Winter 2026 another one of our ‘bests’.

Winter 2026 threw everything at us, including an unpredictable start that had some worried for the season ahead. Luckily for us, we were ready for anything! Our new All-Weather Snowmaking Unit, capable of making snow in temperatures of up to 20 degrees, meant we were building a base from April and we were able to guarantee skiing and snowboarding from Opening Day on June 6. While conditions elsewhere were patchy, Thredbo skied on, with Friday Flat spinning from day one!

And once the lifts were turning, the season didn’t let up! Opening Weekend brought fireworks, live music and first turns for the whole family. When the legs were warm from cruisy laps on Friday Flat, the space came alive all throughout the school holidays with face painting, flare runs, fireworks, s’mores, fairy floss, soccer, giant games, and of course, visits from the iconic Thredboland Animals.

The Snow Australia Adaptive Festival celebrated community and progression on snow, and served as a crucial step in the para pathway.

As Thredbo turned pink for Breast Cancer Network Australia, the community showed up and came together to help raise much needed funds for those affected by breast cancer!

Project Shred had the next generation of groms tearing up a custom-built terrain park at Friday Flat, accompanied by expert coaches including Olympic champions.

All the while, the Mountain Operations + Snowmaking Teams were working around the clock to open new terrain, and the marketing team working on creative ways to announce said terrain 😉

We also celebrated achieving EarthCheck Platinum Status – the First Destination in Asia-Pacific to set this benchmark, something we are truly proud of.

The celebration came at the perfect time, as we kicked off Thredbo’s Environment week. Sharing our love of our unique alpine environment with our guests and community is something we will always be grateful for!

As winter kept rolling on, so did the celebrations and one that stood out to us was Tommy Tomasi’s 100th birthday! Tommy is a true Thredbo legend, and his story is woven into the fabric of Thredbo’s history, what an honour it was to celebrate with his nearest and dearest.

As the home of Australia’s only Alpine Coaster… we mean it when we say there was never a dull moment this season!

With the resort in full swing – the mountain began to buzz with on snow events. An early highlight was hosting the Junior Mogul Series on Weimea!

It was then time for après season to take things up a notch, with back to back parties turning up the volume across the resort. And let’s not forget, the first of it’s kind drone show spotted lighting up the village to kick off Range Rover Residency – what a display!

Throw in a few nice storms that rolled through, and soon the warmer early season conditions were a thing of the past!

Stomping Grounds once again kicked off up above the Cruiser Area, hosting the world’s best skiers and snowboarders that were able to train on world-class facilities right in our backyard!

First Tracks Club, our newest (and maybe best) Alpine Experience also had a bit of a shake up – with the move to the Cruiser Area proving to be one that had everyone questioning… why hasn’t it always been like this?

All eyes were on our iconic terrain in the Bluff as we counted down the days to Australia’s premier freeride competition, Battle On The Bluff. Incredibly, the wind did some serious heavy lifting in the terrain, and this years Battle On The Bluff is one we are unlikely to ever forget!

In the mix the Thredbo Triple Crown’s first two stops went down without a hitch, and we are very much looking forward to the third.

As always, our Rainbow Mountain event was a true highlight as the resort was taken over in a celebration of love, self-expression and community!

Despite conditions starting to suffer after some big rain events, our Mountain Operations team never backed down, and due to their determination – we were able to host the ANC Big Air & Slopestyle comps for some of the country’s best riders chasing FIS points!

Throw in some incredible dining experiences held across the mountain, and we think we can confidently say we didn’t leave a stone unturned this season!

Looking back, we’re pretty stoked.. and looking ahead, there’s still so much to go!
With Tess Coady’s Bush Doof, the Transfer Banked Slalom and Triple Crown Big Air still yet to come… there’s plenty to smile about in Thredbo!
None of this happens by accident. It takes an incredible team, a beautiful community and our wonderful guests to make it all happen – and it’s all part of the reason why Thredbo has taken out Australia’s Best Ski Resort for 9 years in a row. But to make it to 10, we need your help!
Cast your vote now and help us bring home the win… you know you want to.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
