To celebrate our Enviro Week, we’re bringing a touch of green to Family Flare Run. We’ll have a stacked line up of extra kids activities on hand for kids to learn about the natural environment around them.

Please note that registration is mandatory for both adults and children. Only parents of participating children are eligible to attend the event.

Family Flare Run is weather dependent.

While this event is free, online registrations and a MyThredbo card are essential. Numbers are limited.

Snowy Hydro - Power Peak

10am - 5pm

Friday Flat

Stop by the Snowy Hydro activation half way down Friday Flat for an interactive game investigating physics of gravity, velocity, mass and speed. There will also be a computer game located outside the Bistro later in the afternoon.

National Parks & Wildlife Services

3pm - 5pm

Friday Flat

National Parks and Wildlife services on hand for kids to learn about the natural environment around them. Check out their bug display and search for native critters.

ANU Astronomers

3pm - 5pm

Friday Flat

Our astronomy friends from the ANU will have an interactive display for the kids to learn more about the solar system.

Cap off a big day of skiing with free Lindt s'mores!

FAQs

Is there an age limit?

Children aged 3 to 14 years
Children aged 3 to 6 years must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years and over
Up to 2 parents allowed to accompany children
Parents are encouraged to participate as well as assisting siblings aged 15-17

What skill level do I need to be?

To take part in the Flare Run, you must be at least a level 4 skier.

Level 4: I finish my turns with the skis parallel but I still have a snowplough for most of my turn, on all green slopes. Refer to: Know Your Ski & Snowboard Level | Thredbo Snowsports

Where can I purchase flares (lights)?

You can purchase flares (lights) from Thredbo Retail store at Friday Flat or out the front of the Bistro.

Can I bring ski poles?

No, kids will not be allowed to ski with poles.

Can I ride the chairlift if I'm not skiing?

No, foot passengers are not allowed.
