Welcome To Winter!
Bring on a massive Opening Weekend at Thredbo.
Join us this long weekend as winter officially begins, with a stacked line-up of events, Alpine Coaster rides, and mountain adventures for all ages.
From on-snow action to village vibes, we’re celebrating the season’s start with great dining, live entertainment, fireworks and plenty of kids’ activities – all set in the heart of the Snowy Mountains.
Saturday 6 June
Alpine Coaster

Enjoy the thrills of the fun and exhilarating Alpine Coaster!
Merritts Gondola
9am – 4pm
Valley Terminal
Take a ride on the state-of-the-art Merritts Gondola, Australia’s only alpine Gondola! A valid lift ticket is required.
Live Painting
10:30am - 2pm
Village Square
Famous for his legendary snow sculptures around the resort, Andrew "Grassi" Kelaher will be creating a landscape painting outside the Bakery. Sit back with a coffee and admire some fantastic live art in progress.
S’mores
11am - 3pm
Keller Kids Hub
Nothing better than this yummy winter treat, enjoy the tradition of s’mores with a unique Lindt Chocolate spin.
Arts & Crafts
11am - 3pm
Keller Kids Hub
Let the kids get creative with fun (and free) winter arts and crafts. Paint a special rock, make a marshmallow snowman, or decorate a gingerbread snowball!
Face Painting

Our skilled face painters will transform little faces into beautiful works of art, completely free of charge. From fierce tigers to beautiful butterflies, the only limit is their imagination!
Street Performers

The Village
A variety of street performers will be wandering the village with a host of acts to keep everyone entertained!

Grab a high five and a photo with Wally Wombat and all his friends.
Jackson Aces

A master of the art, Jackson Aces will be roving the Village with his impressive magic tricks.

Opening Weekend means the return of après! Our resident DJ's will be on hand to get you in the mood to groove all weekend long.

Fireworks

The Sky
Opening the season with a BANG! Everyone loves a fireworks display, and Thredbo is famous for putting on some of the best and boy do we have a big one planned for opening weekend.
Buses to Jindabyne
7:30pm, 9pm & 10:30pm
Thredbo Info Centre
Thredbo is encouraging everyone to stay safe this winter, enjoy a carefree ride home by booking a seat on the bus.

A long-held tradition where Thredbo Ski Patrol, local church leaders and the the community gather in the beautiful Thredbo Chapel to wish everyone a safe, happy and prosperous season ahead.

Another Lounge Bar set will round out a massive weekend of live music.
