Summer School Groups

Scenic Chairlift, Guided Hikes, Alpine Coaster, Leisure Centre – Pool/Slide or Sport Halls:

• minimum 20 Paying Guests per booking for Scenic Lift, Guided Hikes and Resort Activities. 
• bona fide school groups to Year 12 will be charged at the student rate & receive 1 teacher Free of Charge (FOC) for every 10 paying students.

Mountain Biking, Disc Golf rental, Clothing rental, Lunch or Zero Gravity Trampoline:

• minimum 10 Paying Guests per booking for Mountain Biking. 
• bona fide school groups to Year 12 will be charged at the  student or adult rate, no teacher  Free of Charge (FOC) is available for this product.

Guided Hikes:

  • Monday to Friday during NSW School Terms, excluding MTB Event weeks below:
    • Cannonball MTB Festival: 9 February 2027 – 13 February 2027 
    • Australian MTB Interschools: 1 March 2027 – 5 March 2027
    • Good Friday, 26 March 2027 & Easter Monday, 26 March 2027

Alpine Coaster Closure:

2 weeks prior to arrival, final numbers and in-resort contact details as required for Scenic Lift, Guided Hike and Resort Activities.

For MTB groups, full group details are required via the provide Student and Teacher data form:

• In resort contact details (full name, contact number, email)
• Any changes to activity time or final numbers will be reviewed and subject to availability 
• Student/Teacher names and dates of birth (required for MTB)
• Medication, food or drug allergies (required for MTB and Guided Hikes)
• Rental Information (if required for MTB)

1 week prior to arrival, final payment is due

• Thredbo Groups will provide a Pre-Arrival Information document to assist the group in making the most of their time in Thredbo
  • The group’s in-resort contacts are required to read this information prior to arrival

Group organisers should assess and know if the group’s hike is within Thredbo leasehold area or outside and understand it may be prolonged periods of time before help can reach remote locations. 

Hiking Responsibility Code

Leave No Trace Principles:

• Plan ahead and prepare
• Travel on durable surfaces – remain on designated walking tracks or travel on surfaces which can tolerate trampling. Much of the alpine ecosystem is fragile and cannot recover from trampling
• Dispose of all waste properly – no bins are located on hiking trails; all waste is to be disposed in appropriate locations across Thredbo village
• Leave what you find – do not pick or remove anything natural
• Respect wildlife – appreciate wildlife through quiet and observation from afar
• Minimise campfire impacts, understand and be aware of fire restrictions/bans
• Be considerate of hosts and other visitors – remain on left hand side of hiking trails to allow for 2-way traffic and others to pass. Do not play music aloud when hiking

The Guided Hikes Package provides the opportunity for kids to immerse themselves in the protected landscapes of Kosciuszko National Park, surrounding Thredbo and uncover the secrets of its unique ecology, rich history and cultural significance of the surrounding mountains and rivers.

• Mt Kosciuszko Hike: 13km return, Australian Walking Track System: Grade 3,accessed from the top of Kosciuszko Chairlift. Approximately 5 hours return with some short steep sections
• Mt Kosciuszko Lookout Hike: 4km return, Australian Walking Track System: Grade 2, accessed from the top of Kosciuszko Chairlift. Approximately 2 hours return with uphill sections
  • Meeting Time: 9.00am at Valley Terminal big maps beside Guest Services
  • Maximum Group Size 45: Groups will be split into small pods and staggered on the public walking trails
    • Guide to student ratio 1:15. Teacher to Guide ratio is 1:1 to ensure there is a teacher allocated for each group
  • Mandatory information includes: Total guest numbers, In resort contact, Medical or special needs are to be communicated to Thredbo Groups

Thredbo only accepts school group bookings for MTB lift and lessons Monday to Friday during NSW school terms with no access to weekend visitation:

• Lesson Start Time: 10:00am 2hr Mountain Bike Clinic. Lessons are based on availability
• Maximum numbers per Lesson Class: 8 Students (with an instructor ratio of 1 instructor to 8 students)
• Bike Rental Package: includes All-Mountain or Park bike (or similar) and full-face helmet (subject to availability)
  • Thredbo may not be able to accommodate bike rental for groups with numbers exceeding 20 guests
• Armour Rental Package: includes pressure suit and knee pads
• Multi-day lift passes are for consecutive days only
• Mandatory information is required for this product and with details provided during the booking process

Enjoy the family friendly 1.5km Alpine Coaster track as it twists and turns its way down the mountain whilst you control the speed with a brake on your sled:

• A preferred usage time is required at the time of booking
  • Please note this is not an exclusive booking and the group will use the same line as guests
  • Activity time will be rounded to the nearest half hour and based on availability
• There are often groups booked for the Alpine Coaster, therefore, very important to arrive on time at your scheduled activity
• Alpine Coaster operation hours vary during the season and upon booking confirmation, an allocated time will be communicated 
• The Alpine Coaster can be affected by weather conditions, and times may need to be adjusted on the day  
• To ride the Alpine Coaster on your own group members must be 8 years of age or older and over 135cms tall  
  • Students under 8 will double up with a responsible adult (15yrs or older) – all riders require a paid pass

Have fun at our facility with the options of a pool, waterslide, mission inflatable, sports hall, pickle ball, bouldering wall, and zero gravity trampoline: 

• Session Numbers: In some cases, large groups may be required to book two session times or split into smaller groups
• All school groups will be required to always have an adult/teacher present within the facility and supervising during the school group booking time 
• Requested booking times need to be within available School Group time (no access permitted outside of booking time)
• Leisure Centre options:
  • Sports Hall includes access to the basketball/netball court, ping pong tables and bouldering wall
    • 1hr sport halls access
  • Pickle Ball – 3 courts of Pickleball hire (racquets and balls included)
    • Please note that the Sports Hall entry and Pickleball cannot be programmed at the same time
  •  Pool/Slide.
    • Add-On Mission Inflatable
    • valid for 50min pool session
  •  Zero Gravity Trampoline
    • 30min session

Thredbo’s disc golf course features 18 holes nestled between bushland, open fields and eucalypts and is surrounded by stunning mountain views. Disc golf is fun for all ages and abilities and is played much like traditional golf but, instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc. The object is to complete each hole in the fewest number of throws:

• Rental max of 30 discs at one time (group may need to the split)
• All booking times will be rounded to the nearest half hour (based on availability)
• The Disc Golf is an outdoor activity so appropriate waterproof footwear is highly recommended  
• Disc Golf can be affected by weather conditions, and times may need to be adjusted on the day
