Thredbo MTB Park Gears Up For Summer

Posted on 26 Sep, 2020 in Biking

Thredbo Mountain Bike Park is gearing up for a huge summer of riding as Australia’s premier mountain biking destination prepares to open its doors for the 2020 season!

The Ricochet trail is dialled in and ready to shred on opening day plus there’s a whole stack of exciting new developments in the works for this summer.

Boasting the only summer lift access in the country, the Kosciuszko Express takes mountain bike riders to the top of Australia where more than 34 kilometres of trails awaits!

The Gunbarrel Express chair will be open more often this year, including every weekend and throughout the school holidays, so there’s more time for you to hit the trails.

With tree roots, rock gardens, flowing berms and technical terrain, Thredbo is an absolute mountain bike mecca with a mix of trails including downhill, flow, cross-country and all-mountain.

There are also skills and jumps parks for all ages to nail cornering, braking and body position as well as a fast-flowing pump track for free-rolling fun.

This year the Valley Terminal Park and Little Beauty Jumps Park have had a revamp, with more jumps and features for you to hit!

If you don’t have your own bike, there’s the latest downhill and enduro bikes from gravity specialists Norco to rent plus an extensive range of cross-country, e-bikes and kids bikes to choose from! With something to suit all levels, everyone can ride together for a fun day out for the whole family.

If you’re looking to progress your mountain biking this SummerThredbo has a team of qualified guides on hand to give you the skills and confidence that will take your riding to the next level.

For the first time, Thredbo is offering MTB School Holiday Camps, which caters for kids from 7-14 years. The camps teach kids the fundamentals of mountain biking with gravity specific riding techniques, pump track skills and valuable bike setup tools!

Also new this summer in Thredbo is the MTB Development Squad, a 9-week Sunday program that will challenge and inspire young mountain bikers in a fun and educational environment with beginner, intermediate and advanced levels offered.

Participants will be given targeted feedback to develop skills and confidence in a range of areas including body positioning, braking, cornering and small jumps.

Back by popular demand this year are Thredbo’s group and private mountain bike clinics with something to suit all ages and abilities.

Thredbo also offers a Gravity Girls clinic specifically for women, that’s designed to offer a non-intimidating introduction to downhill riding and provide fearless females the tools and confidence to take on the mountain!

Whilst Cannonball MTB Festival and Super Enduro have been put on hold this year, Thredbo’s excited to announce The Gravity Series is back by popular demand with 6 monthly rounds kicking off from December 13. The series challenges riders across a variety of terrain and trails for a test of skill and stamina! With limited entry spots be sure to secure your competitor pass as soon as possible.

Thredbo Mountain Bike Park opens 21 November.
