FIS-Sanctioned Freestyle Comp Returns To Aussie Slopes with the Thredbo Triple Crown 👑
Posted on 13 May, 2025 in Thredbo Parks
Big news for up-and-coming Aussie athletes: Thredbo’s iconic Triple Crown Series, presented by Boost Mobile, is officially levelling up.
We’re stoked to announce that in partnership with Snow Australia, the Slopestyle and Big Air events in this year’s Triple Crown Series will be FIS-sanctioned and included in the Australian New Zealand (ANC) Series. That’s right – Thredbo is once again on the world stage for freestyle ski and snowboard progression!
Not only does this mark the return of park FIS events to Australia for the first time since 2022, it also gives competitors the chance to earn official FIS points across Youth, Junior and Open categories. Whether you’re gunning for a podium or just racking up points on your pathway to international comps, this is your shot.
Athletes will compete for a share of the $60,000 prize pool, with results contributing to both Triple Crown rankings and ANC standings. That means double the recognition and double the opportunity to launch a serious career in freestyle.
Snow Australia’s Sport Development Coordinator, Johnny Lipzker, summed it up perfectly:
“This is a game-changing opportunity for our athletes. It enhances their ability to qualify for events like the Europa Cup and, ultimately, the Olympic Games.”
Our very own Sam Noller, Thredbo Event Manager, added:
“We’re thrilled to bring FIS-sanctioned park events back to Thredbo. It’s a testament to our long-standing commitment to freestyle progression and gives athlete a high-quality, competitive platform to launch their international careers, all right here in the Aussie Alps.”
One major highlight? The ANC series winner (based on results from two slopestyle events and one big air event) will score a personal World Cup quote spot for the 2025/26 season. That’s a direct stepping stone toward the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
The Triple Crown Slopestyle event is going down on August 1 and Big Air on August 25.
Don’t miss out – whether you’re competing, cheering from the sideline, or simply want to catch a glimpse of the next big names in the industry, this season’s Triple Crown is going to be next-level. Learn more about Triple Crown here.
