There’s still snow around, but the flowers are taking centre stage!
THREDBO TO MT KOSCIUSZKO
Things are warming up in the alpine areas of Kosciuszko National Park, and the flowers are reflecting that by coming out to greet the Summer sun. Though there are still snow patches on the heights, most have melted to leave space for the fields of wildflowers. It’s still early days for the Summer blooming season, but we are seeing new colours with every passing week. Mountain Celery flowers are filling the grass fields with their fluffy white heads, and the creamy stalks of Candle Heath line the banks of creeks and rivers.
You will still spot some snow along the walk to Mt Kosciuszko, with some lingering snow patches covering short sections of the final summit ascent. Be prepared for these sections by wearing sturdy shoes and take your time when crossing the snow with short steps to maintain your balance.
THE VILLAGE COMES ALIVE
Down in the village there is an abundant variety of blooming flowers. We suggest taking a stroll on the Meadows Nature Track to see some beautiful Alpine Mint Flowers, or my personal favourite – the Kosciuszko Rose (pictured below). At this time of year, this can be seen as a rosebud waiting its turn or opened into a gorgeous spread of tiny white stars, depending on how high up the hill you find it!
Thredbo Guided Adventures is off with a bang, taking in some incredible sunsets up in Australia’s highest places. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the Summer to join us for an adventure during the day, or some great golden views during our sunset tours. We hope you’re as excited to come and join us as we are to introduce you to this magical landscape!

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
