The Gun Show | Two Huge Nights Of Snowmaking As The Temps Drop!

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, the roar of the snowmaking guns firing up across the mountain as the mercury drops well below zero.

For the last two nights, we’ve had over 120 snow guns pumping across the mountain, and woken up to a crisp scene in Thredbo!

Friday, June 26

Overnight on Thursday, the temps dropped to below -4°C and our snowmaking team were ready to take full advantage.

From 9pm on Thursday night, until around 8:15am on Friday morning, 125 snowguns fired up across the mountain.

With snowmaking on Walkabout, Ballroom, Easyrider Park, Dream Run, High Noon, Friday Flat, Beginner’s Bowl, True Blue, Supertrail, Antons, Sponars and Sundance – it was a delight to wake up to that crisp white cloud covering the upper slopes all the way down to Friday Flat.

Saturday, June 26

After a gorgeous sunny day on Friday, the temps began to drop again and the snowmaking team were ready and waiting for round 2!

With the thermometer dropping down to a freezing -6.5°C in the early hours of Saturday morning – it felt like winter truly had arrived with 127 guns blasting across the mountain.

The team once again were making snow and building on coverage across, Walkabout, Ballroom, Easyrider Park, Dream Run, High Noon, Friday Flat, Beginner’s Bowl, Supertrail, Antons and Sponars with some guns still running beyond 9am!

So, even though they are probably all having a well deserved sleep – if you see a snowmaker in the wild, be sure to give them a hi-5!
