The Winter Party Line-up is Only Just Getting Started

Posted on 30 Aug, 2017

You might think that winter is coming close to being over, but the only thing that’s heating up in Thredbo is the hot-as calendar of fresh artists and huge parties. Clear your weekends and get ready to apres your way into Spring….

Saturday August 26: The Preatures preview their national tour

First cab off the rank is an exciting one – this Saturday in Thredbo is the Corona Sunset Poolside Apres party. The uniquely-Thredbo combination of drinks by the pool, next to a mountain, partying to the sound of fresh music is one hard to beat, and Saturday’s headlining act – The Preatures – is no exception. Apres-goers are going to get a soul-rocking preview of The Preatures’ upcoming highly anticipated national tour and a taste of their second album, freshly released this month…along with some brilliant supporting acts, and as usual, it’s all FREE!

Friday September 1 and Saturday September 2: SNOWTUNES Festival

The Snowy Mountains will once again play host to a massive music line-up at the Snowtunes Festival in Jindabyne on the first weekend of September. SAFIA, Gang of Youths, Nina Las Vegas and Northeast Party House are just some of the huge homegrown names the 2 open-air stages will see. View full details, including the entire lineup and how to purchase tickets here.

September 6 – 9: One Hit Wonder Festival

Despite it’s name, the One Hit Wonder Festival actually has multiple exciting events going on across several days in September, including the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in freeriding hit the biggest jump in the southern hemisphere. If big air isn’t your thing, big parties might be: hit up the Fireball Full Moon Party on Wednesday September 6th at the Keller Bar from 9pm, a crazy night of glow-in-the-dark face paint and awesome DJ tunes – featuring Slippery Trout Deejays, Jam Daniels and Charlie Chux.

Like we said, this week is about multiple hits, and you’ll go out with a bang at the final First Base Party, poolside at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel from 2-7pm, before cruising on into the massive last Heineken Village Concert on Saturday September 9. In your best retro attire, you’ll witness First Base duo Tom Tilley and Hugo Gruzman take the decks, before huge name Luke Million shows us how to rave. Because 2 parties is better than one, you can take your hype right on over to the legends Winston Surfshirt supported by Strange Associates and Panama at the Village concert. With this intoxicating line-up, fireworks and the combined hype of a first base party AND a village concert in one night (both massive in their own right), get ready for a big one.

Saturday September 15 – 16: BOARDSTOCK 2017

If you’re a boarding enthusiast of any kind – snowboarder, skateboarder or even a keen surfer – you need to get your butt to Thredbo for Boardstock 2017. Volcom are taking over, bringing down some a team of some of the best Pro boarders from all 3 disciplines  for a sweet weekend of shredding. It all starts on Friday in the Village Skate Park from 3-5pm with the Pro skaters, followed by a night of meet & greet with the Pro snowboarders from 7pm, with a showing of their sick vintage movie footage and poster signing. Saturday is the big day though… from 10-3pm make you way up to Antons terrain park for an all-out rad park sesh, with a mini-half pipe, and awesome Volcom feature and a bunch of smaller fun features that EVERYONE from the public can come have a go on alongside the Pros. Oh and get excited for the return of SAUSAGE FEST! I.e. A FREE BBQ!! All sausage enthusiasts welcome. Saturday night, we’ve got you covered for apres again (of course)…there will be an unreal after-party at the Schuss Bar from 9pm.

Saturday September 23: The famous Pond Skim

If Spring is good for one thing, it’s spring-skiing…ANDDDD of course the annual pond skim! There’s nothing better than watching people dressed in ridiculous outfits, ski or board into a pond of bloody cold water, deluded into thinking that they might actually overcome the measly laws of physics and skim their way across to the other side. With points on the line for mastering the feat of actually making it across the pond (surprisingly it does happen), costume and style & crowd response, this is an event for the under(water)dog – ANYONE can win. If you’re someone who loves to make a fool of themselves, or who fancies working on their abs with a good belly laugh, head to Lower Ballroom from midday for some fun and great prizes. Free registration from 5pm on Friday 22nd September.

Get around the full calendar of events with all the gnarly details here.
