Thredbo Mountain Bike Park…Gravity and Good Times this Summer

The Thredbo Mountain Bike Park is Australia’s premier mountain biking destination with a hefty mix of gravity and cross country trails, skills parks, kids only area and a fast flowing pump track, there is something for every level of rider. Thredbo is gearing up for another exciting mountain bike season kicking off November 17 with big events, fresh trails and great ride programs.
It is shaping up to be a huge season with riders anxiously waiting six months to hit Thredbo’s gravity trails, with the country’s only season long lift accessed mountain hitting the summer slopes is easy. Here’s a rundown of the trails on offer:
The Kosciuszko Flow Trail
Perfect for those looking for an introduction into downhill riding or a warm up for the Cannonball. The steady gradient gives riders a more mellow ride than the Cannonball, but still providing the adrenalin rush of downhilling.

The Cannonball Downhill
Thredbo’s most difficult trail that descends 600m vertically through the tree-lined Supertrail slopes. Cannonball tests riders with off-camber roots, rock drops, jumps, wall-ride and other technical features that the gravity specialists dream about.

The All Mountain Trail
The All-Mountain Trail is manicured and tailor made for the rider looking for adventure. It takes you through three diverse ecosystems delivering flowing single-track, challenging rock-gardens and supreme views down the Thredbo Valley.

The Thredbo Valley Track
One of the most popular tracks in the region and offers a beautiful and exciting 19 kilometre ride from Thredbo following the iconic Thredbo River to Lake Crackenback Resort. New for summer 2018 there is an extension of the Thredbo Valley Track – this sees the track get a little more technical, through all kinds of vegetation and terrain, very spectacular.

Trail masters, Dirt Art, in collaboration with the Thredbo Trail Crew, will giving the Kosciuszko Flow Trail and All-Mountain trails a revamp with some welcomed realignments creating more consistent flow and fun for all rider abilities.
Early 2019 riders will see a new link making its way from the top of the Gunbarrel Express chairlift across the valley to the middle slopes of the Kosciuszko Flow and Cannonball Downhill, it will provide riders with a low intermediate style trail. Also on the lower slopes we will see a more direct access from the All-Mountain finish at Creek Station, taking riders directly back to the base of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift, without having to use the road.
This season’s event calendar will see the biggest MTB events in the country in Thredbo. High on any mountain bikers must do list is the Cannonball Mountain Bike Festival 5-9 December 2018. There’s $90,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, five massive events across five action packed days plus a village full of entertainment – this will be big.
Coming into its third year the Thredbo Super Enduro will test the true all-rounder utilising all three gravity trails, Feb 23-24. The battle of the schools continues with the 2019 Australian interschool’s MTB champs March 14-17.
New riders to the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park can up their skills with 2 hour beginner, intermediate and advanced clinics running daily along with 2.5hr personalised private lessons tailored to the rider’s needs.
