Guess What!? There’s a bunch of new experiences coming to Thredbo this Winter

Posted on 4 May, 2021 in Festivals & Events

With winter well and truly on the way, it’s time to get excited for an incredible season of experience!

Did you know you can pick up your MyThredbo Card any time this winter?

Arriving late or an early-bird wanting to get up the mountain first? Either is snow worries now!

Thredbo has launched MyThredbo Card Kiosks allowing for 24-7 contactless collection of lift pass cards. Simply pre-purchase your lift, lesson and rental products at the Online Shop before heading to one of the kiosk locations in Thredbo or Jindabyne to collect your MyThredbo Card by scanning either your printed receipt or mobile phone barcode.

Bookings are now open for the all-new on-mountain experiences!

From watching the sunrise at Australia’s highest lifted point, to seeing the stars come to life from Thredbo’s iconic mountain-top restaurant, Kareela Hutte, Thredbo has got some serious, lifelong-memory-making experiences coming this year.

Sunrise Sessions will have you standing at Australia’s highest lifted point at sunrise before fuelling up for a day of riding at Eagles Nest. The best bit? You will be sending your way through the days fresh powder or corduroy during first tracks with one of Thredbo’s Winter Olympian Ambassadors (past or present Winter Olympians) as your guide.

And while we are on the topic of ambassadors, a stack of Australia’s best snow athletes are joining a long line of ambassadors like Torah Bright. To name a few, Valentino Guseli, Josie Baff, Ben Tudhope and Abi Harrigan will be preparing for the Beijing Olympic games in Thredbo, so keep your eyes peeled as you may see them around the resort.

Right, back onto new experiences…

Merritts Mountain Haus Feast is set to be a friend and family favourite. Ride up the mountain in Australia’s only alpine gondola to Merritts Mountain House where you will be greeted with a feast of Bavarian-inspired dishes. You can even choose to step the night up another notch by adding a Snowcat Tour, pre-dinner, to watch the iconic Thredbo Flare Run and Fireworks Show from Kareela Deck.

or maybe something a little more fancy is on the cards? Following the success of the 2019 pilot events, we’re now offering season-long Kareela Hutte experiences. Kareela Snowcat Dinners presented by G.H. Mumm, will take dining to new heights.  Following a snowcat journey, enjoy a glass of Mumm champagne on Kareela Deck while the stars and village twinkle to life. Once the sun has set, head inside for a four-course meal with premium beverages to match.

What about après?

There will be a season-long line-up of après events to get amped about so you can continue your stoke off the snow this winter.

Corona Sunsets will be delivering tunes and good times on the Merritts Deck, while Thredbo’s Alpine Bar will host Alpine Après, presented by Heineken – think tunes, firepits and good times in plentiful supply on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Into the evening, Segreto has been reimagined into a late-night supper club serving deli platters and wines into the hazy hours of the evening. Keep an eye out for details!

What about the slopes? Well, Thredbo Parks are back baby!

Antons and Cruiser parks return, while a beginner pop-up park will have new shredders carving up entry-level features. Previous Cardrona Shaper, James Byrne, has made his way to Thredbo to flex his expertise for the 2021 season. Speaking of what’s to come…

“I am excited to be part of the Thredbo team. We have some really interesting and unique projects in the works for winter and I can’t wait to get amongst it – stay tuned.”

You think this is a tonne of entertainment for winter? Thredbo is just getting started!

Think Top to Bottom, the Torah Bright Mini Shred and more! Keep an eye out on our Instagram and Facebook for all the event and entertainment information both on and off the slopes.
