Thredboland Flaik Tags - FAQ's
A Flaik tag is a plastic device with a rubber strap that attaches to the lower leg of a child, normally around the cuff of their ski boot. Inside, it contains a GPS tracker and a battery. It provides real time tracking of the wearer’s location.
Our staff are certified and trained in class management by both their certifying body and internally. In the unlikely event of a missing child, Flaik Tags may help us locate the child more quickly.
Children aged 3-6yrs are our youngest and most vulnerable guests, and some may struggle to communicate in the unlikely event they become lost or separated from the group. Flaik Tags provide a world-class safety measure to show us the live location of participants in our care, providing additional peace of mind.
Thredboland participants will only be fitted with a Flaik Tag once we have received express written consent from the child’s parent or guardian. Parents must complete and return a consent form when checking their child into the Thredboland program. Such consent will be valid for the duration of the program, unless withdrawn earlier.
Yes, we require a separate consent form to be completed for each child wearing a Flaik Tag.
The use of Flaik Tags is provided at no cost to Thredboland participants.
Flaik Tag data will be available to authorised Thredbo personnel involved in the Thredboland program. All data will be collected in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at https://www.thredbo.com.au/privacy-policy/.
The location of a Flaik Tag is visible to our designated team members, whereas an Apple Airtag isn’t. With a Flaik Tag, we can monitor the whereabouts of children in our care in critical moments. Checking the location of a Flaik Tag now forms part of our Standard Operating Procedure in the event of a missing child.

Thredbo sits on the traditional land of the Monero – Ngarigo people who have looked after this land, water and community for over 60,000 years. We thank them for all they have done and continue to do to look after their country, a special place which we all love and respect.
