Hello winter! With 50 cm of snow forecasted over the next three days stoke levels are high as the winter vibes roll in.
Over the past weekend we received our first snowfall of the season!
Mother Nature has been putting it on for the weekend warriors as of late! This weekend just past was another one for the books, filled with freshies, funky après as well as some wind, offering skiers and boarders plenty of windblown stashes to shred all weekend long.
2017 what a Winter! With the Blizzard of Oz, Blizzard of Oz 2.0 and Blizzard of Oz 3.0 Thredbo was blessed with an abundance of snow. The constant storms meant amazing conditions across the mountain but it did present some challenges for the Thredbo Parks team. We prefer to think of challenges as opportunities and we used the volumes of snow to our advantage building the biggest and best Terrain Parks we could. Jump landings were long and steep with a huge assortment of creative jibs peppering the Parks.
Boom! The Fourth Annual Banked Slalom went off with an absolute bang…and I mean bang! If you were in Thredbo this weekend and took part in the snowboarding celebrations you would know what we’re talking about! Come find out what went down…
Snowboarders unite! Thredbo and Volcom have taken a leaf out of Woodstock’s book and decided to put on a weekend full of peace, love and snowboarding. Time to save the date and plan your sick day because Boardstock 2017 is going down across the weekend of the 15th and 16th of September and it’s set to go off!
The Thredbo Snow Series is a unique series consisting of 5 events covering 5 freestyle disciplines. Ultimately to take out overall series honours a well rounded snowsports skill set is required.
It’s hard to believe it’s September – it’s supposed to be spring and yet this week’s blizzard has been record-breakingingly winter: the Blizzard of Oz 3.0 brought over 140cm, bringing the Spencer’s Creek snow depth to a huge 233cm… the highest it’s been since 2000. Combined with Saturday night’s heady mix of the last First Base Party and the final raving Heineken Village Concert, this week is certainly a very hot contender for the week of the season.
Thredbo Snow Series Big Air means big thrills and with the overall series crowns also up for grabs, the excitement levels were through the roof. The always popular Q5 jump measures in at 45 foot to the knuckle… not massive but with a long landing competitors were able to send it! To cover the diversity of abilities in the event a smaller take off was pushed up measuring in at 20 foot. After warming up in practice each athlete got two jumps with the best jump counted as the scorer.
