Style for Miles: Snow Series Slopestyle Wrap Up

The penultimate event of the 2017 Thredbo Snow Series is the Slopestyle. With it’s inclusion in the Olympics the already popular event is going from strength to strength. To provide the best course possible the jump and the rail elements were held separate with 2 runs on each. The best jump run and the best rail run for each competitor was combined to give the overall Slopestyle score. With less pressure to link 4 tricks consecutively, competitors could relax a little focusing on 2 tricks at a time.

The Bluff is Back: Snow Series Freeride on the Bluff Wrap Up

Returning in 2017 after a 4 year hiatus the Thredbo Snow Series welcomes back the Freeride on the Bluff… and what a return! The steep face of the Bluff was stacked after the Blizzard of Oz and the Blizzard of Oz 2.0. So much snow that many of the favourite features were actually filled in. With less options to choose from big air and tricks were the order of the day, as opposed to technical lines through the rocks… there’s not many rocks left up there! With one judged run to decide the winners, competitors had to negotiate the variable visibility and put it all on the line.

The Blizzard of Oz 2.0 meets Client Liaison, this week’s perfect pairing

There are some things that just go together: wine and cheese, rom-coms and chocolate and of course, the classic pairing that is fresh powder and apres parties. Thredbo played cupid to a match made in heaven this week: 60cm was delivered by the Blizzard of Oz 2.0 from Wednesday through to Friday, as if mother nature knew it would be perfect timing for the Kosciuszko Pale Ale Poolside Après Party on Saturday evening.

Jyes Jam 2017

Thredbo’s Friday Flat stair set and Jye Kearney hosted a rail jam of epic proportions for 10 of the best snowboarders in the Southern Hemisphere! With over 200 stoked spectators in attendance, Dj Luke Oz spinning the decks and Jye’s special alcoholic juice, the riders and crowd put on an absolute shred show…it sure was a night to remember.

Thrills and Spills: Snow Series Ridercross Wrap Up

The Thredbo Snow Series continued on Wednesday with the always entertaining Ridercross going down on High Noon. Cash prizes, bags of swag, bragging rights and points towards the overall series were up for grabs.

Ryan Tiene: Natural Progression

In 2004 a 17 year old Ryan Tiene blipped on the snowboard world’s radar, taking down international riders of note and winning the Stylewars event. It seemed the fresh faced youngster had a long competitive career ahead of him… X Games awaits we all thought.
